Yelawolf Is RadioActive…

Friday, October 28th, 2011

Yelawolf is going stadium status with his latest album ‘RadioActive’. He specifically said this album is his attempt to cross over to the mainstream rap music markets. After listening to the album in its entirety I definitely heard some of those ‘lighter in the sky’ arena rap songs. Apparently the direction from Eminem is paying off.

At least Yelawolf still keeps his live performances trill.

College Music Journal Gets XXL…

Monday, October 24th, 2011

The College Music Journal is a fucking marathon event held in New York City to present new music and filmmakers to a broader audience. I suppose its NYC’s version of South by SouthWest. Concerts are smashed out with a dozen or more performances every night. I stopped fucking with CMJ because I was getting wack rap fatigue. That shit is worse than diabetes.

My homies, the Outdoorsmen, have been on a recent tear thru NYC. Meyhem Lauren at Webster Hall was crazy. Action Bronson all over New York City has been bananas. Action Bronson and his Outdoorsmen comrades KILLED at SOBs but the crowd had dwindled to only a handful of people since they got their mics at 3am.

The scene at the Highline Ballroom was a bit different tho’. XXL Magazine had the building packed to the rafters. Instead of headlining this show Action Bronson was opening for Kid Ink, French Montana and M.G.K. otherwise known as Machine Gun Kelly.

Rap music is still being saved by white people. In the crowd and on the mic.

Population Control…

Thursday, October 20th, 2011

The title track from Statik Selektah’s latest project ‘Population Control’ gets the visual treatment with Sean Price as the lynchpin.

“I am a very mean rapper, shoot the club up and I am never seen after”
