DP.COM MANNY WATCH…

Yes, I’m still on my EFF BOSTON bullshit.

With the month of August halfway in the books MANNY RAMIREZ has come back to Earth. His batting average is a mere mortal .424 and he has only hit 6 HRs and knocked in 21 RBIs while striking out 12 times. The Dodgers record for August so far is 10-6. They are currently sharing first place in the National League West with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

In case you were wondering…

JASON BAY is hitting a solid .328 with a home run and 12 RBI’s for the month of August. BAY also has two stolen bases to go along with his 16 K’s. Boston is 4 games out of first place in the AL East, but they are two games up in the AL Wild Card lead.

THEO, you played yourself.

Yo DP, I hope this eff Boston shtick lasts forever but how you gonna feel if Manny signs w/ the Pinstripes?

Again you pick a bad day to do this! Bay’s line last night: 3-for-5, 2 runs, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 1 SB

But sure Manny is one of the great all-time hitters. Bay’s still an excellent hitter whose talents have been obscured by an uncharacteristically bad 2007 and by a career playing in a pitchers park for an awful lineup. Bay plays better defense, doesn’t come with the same attitude issues / weirdness and is 6 years younger than Manny.

So yeah Manny who hadnt been doing much of anything this summer for Boston has been woken up and has been crazy good for LA.

Meanwhile Boston since the trade has the 2nd most runs in the AL (averaging about 6.5 runs a game) and the 2nd highest OPS – a complete reversal of their weak offensive months in June and July. I understand you want this to be something that has ruined Boston but the truth is, it’s helped them.

Jason Bay had his best offensive game as a Red Sox last night and helped John Lester improve to 12-4 record while the Sox stay atop the Wild Card race. The Red Sox will get back Wakefield and Bartolo Colon to go along with the newly acquired Paul Byrd. Since Jed Lowrie, Kevin Youkilis, David Ortiz and Dustin Pedroia have all gotten hot this month the deals been a wash so far.

The only question is who makes the postseason. While Manny had to go I’m still pissed off with the way shit went down and some of the articles that were written about homie.

it still hurts to know that those Ramirez Red Sox jerseys/T Shirts are now instant throwbacks. Seeing him in a Dodgers jersey is a headcracker (No Double XX Posse)

    One.

Why is everyone that doesn’t know Manny Ramirez talking about his attitude? Industry Rule # 2,848 – “Don’t Believe The Hype!” Let’s see who wins a ‘chip faster now, the Bums or the Sox.

Bay is six years younger? In six years Bay won’t have grown the balls to fill Manny’s sackstrap [ll]. Soulja Boy is 25yrs younger than Ice T but I bet you that Ice would whup his ass like he stoleded something.

Boston lost their soul just because they didn’t want to give that man his money.

Manny is an emotional dude which is what makes him a great player (not to mention his strong arm and the ability to smack the cover off a baseball). Sometimes his antics are a bit childish but it’s not like Boston couldn’t have stopped it a looooong time ago. As long as he produced, they could look past it. Plus he got bonus points in my book for smackin’ up Youkilis and the squirrel under his chin.

Face it, this is a contract year, and Boston didn’t feel that Manny was worth keeping around, so they got a young outfielder instead of letting him walk away w/o something in return. DP is right, they didn’t want to give him his money.

If Minaya doesn’t sign him for next year then he should be taken out, Willie Randolph style.

    Mets stay losin’.

I was at the games for the series vs. the Brewers; real talk Manny’s reaching Fernando Mania level. Even when he got out the crowd was cheering for him, and in between pitches Manny would be talking to people in the crowd.

oh yeah and everyone’s playing to come in second to the Angels this year
