In what has become a tidal wave of tremendous fuck ups the Administration has decided to go on a listening tour for advice on how to resolve the crisis in Iraq. The President has been lukewarm so far on the findings of the bipartisan panel that was convened to make a report on Iraq.
I can’t say I blame G DUBBZ either because going to Iran and Syria from a point of necessity makes G DUBBZ look weak, and let’s face it, being an American is all about appearances, and not whether you have enough money in the bank to pay for that new Mercedes in your driveway or that big screen TV in your living room.
I normally like to consult G DUBBZ on political issues, but frankly, I’m stumped myself. How did SADDAM control this nation that is seemingly filled to the gills with roadside bombs? Obviously, he was more than simply a tyrant because if that were the case and people had a foot in their azz everyday the Iraqi people would have been much happier to see us on their soil. It took the United States several decades to put SADDAM in his position of power. We don’t have the time or the luxury any longer to cultivate someone from that nation that can lord over the Iraqis totally. It’s a wild azz free for all with no end in sight.
I don’t think that it’s enough to ask historians and retired generals what they think about the situation. The best advisors that the Administration has are the clone troopers inside the desert. From the field generals down to the foot soldiers we should be able to hear their feedback without filters. They have the best assessment for the actual progress that we have made. Do they feel any safer since they have landed in Iraq? Do they feel any progress within the hearts of the Iraqis? Our soldiers in the dirt should be where we put our attention primarily, and not the armchair generals that sent us into the desert in the first place
It’s been my experience that when something really matters, managment never asks the opinion of those on the front-lines doing the realy work.
it’s my expert opinion that the situation in Iraq is effed. I feel like the most peaceable conclusion to all of this would be the creation of separate Sunni and Shi’ite nations, which would then kill each other for all eternity over real estate like the Palestinians and the Israelis and the Lebanese etc. Muffington said that G. Wz will go down in history as the worst president ever, no question. I don’t know if this is true, but if it’s not I hope there haven’t been too many more like him in our bloody past…
I would like to hear the collective assesment of the sitiuation in Iraq from the clones. I would’nt be shocked if the solution to the quagmire in Iraq is not as complicated as the media and Bush lead us to belive.
Maybe if we close our eyes and stick our fingers in our ears the problem may magically float away and become someone else’s problem; that seems to be the general consensus silently agreed upon by those who wield power in London.
It is either that or stay and exacerbate the situation with a significant foreign presence, either solution does not look too promising.
Nigeria. Speaking of London, what happened to Tony Blair. These days he seems like little more than G-dubs press secretary. I remember being a student there in the heady days of New Labour. As for Iraq, not only was it a strategic mistake G-Dubbs is far to stoopid to fix this problem.
I would’nt be shocked if the solution to the quagmire in Iraq is not as complicated as the media and Bush lead us to belive.
^^^^This is way off point. the situation there is worsening by the day. say what you will about the motives bush had for getting us in there (oil, halliburton contracts, etc.), at this point he probly wants to get us out as bad as anyone else. a withdrawal in the near or not-too-distant future may be out of the question, unless we’re willing to shoulder the blame for first sending a country to hell and then walking away.
actually, i wonder if there are any recently returned soldiers out there on the dp.com faithful reading list and if they care to weigh in….i feel that so much of what i read is just uninformed opinion, forcefully delivered
‘Nigeria. Speaking of London, what happened to Tony Blair.’
Well there was a attempted leadership coup led by the second most powerful man in the British government, Gordon Brown. A very English coup, lots a talk not enough weapons.

I respect your expert opinion, its also an opinion that I’ve heard before. Just because the sitiuation in Iraq is getting worse doesn’t mean the soloution may not be simple. Politics, favortisim, popular opinion & red tape I’m sure play a hand in the Iraq conflict. I don’t think I can make an accurate assesment because I only have the info that’s feed to me through washington and the media, two unreliable sources. The only thing I know for certain is that its fucked up and sooner a later the united states will cut its losses and leave Iraq worst off than it was under Saddam’s rule.

when i called my opinion “expert”, i was just being cynical — i agree with what you’re saying — that we don’t know the real story, and that we probably never will. i still dont know what you mean, though, by saying that there might be a simple solution. im afraid that you may be right about us pulling out and leaving iraq worse than ever; after all, U.S. opinion polls show that over 50% of citizens want us out within a year. it’s an impossible situation, and one that bush and his cohorts should be held responsible for.
