B.I.G. Words and B.I.G. Thoughts…

There is going to be a lot of reminiscing going on today for the tenth anniversary of the death of CHRISTOPHER ‘Notorious B.I.G.’ WALLACE. In my honest opinion, fans of Notorious should celebrate his bornday more than the day that his essence was removed from the cipher. Hip-Hop must come from under this culture embracing and glorifying death. Maybe that is the problem with American culture as a whole. Color me guilty, I just went to see the movie ‘300’ last nite. It was visually beautiful but it describes the story of the glorious death of 300 Spartan soldiers. What’s my point???

Here’s a little video to watch after you pour some of your good alcohol out on the ground…

I mentioned this in some other blog like a year ago (maybe bol’s), but back when St. Ide’s commercials were the shit, my wife was tapped to play the female lead in the joint featuring Big. We discussed it and since I was a respected exec in the music biz, we decided it wouldnt be a good look to have Mrs. Jack playing a video vixen on no malt liqour ad with no cot damed rapper. Today we look back and think it would’a been hot for her to be featured on anything with the late great Frank White. From the looks of things, the female light in the following was wifey’s replacement.

No disrespect, but I won’t be pouring out any good liquour (not even the bad ish), there will be no sporting of the tee-shirts, or any other kind of ‘Big’ celebration.

    HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND!!!

For me BIG embodied Brooklyn in his music. The cockiness and arrogance. The intelligence and vulnerabilty co-existing with the street knowledge.

Brooklyn misses you Christopher Wallace. Rest in Peace.

i choose to celebrate the day he passed b/c that’s the day he left this earth. i think that day is more monumental than his born day.

  10. Evorgleb says:

YO Biggie is definately missed. There is a void in Hip Hop that still has not been filled. Over on Highbrid Nation we are celebrating Biggie’s life and encouraging people to stop by and just give thier thoughts on the late veteran. You may want to check it out.

  11. Beggar says:

Fa sho… being that we got love for him you just want to celebrate him as much as possible.

I’m kinda with Tiffany on this…I mean BIG was/is one of the greatest. If we can ever save this shit hop shit, and get a hip hop hall of fame or whatever, BIG will definitely grace it’s halls. Be being brooklyn born and raised, he definitely connects with me on that HIGHER (get it) level. But I have to ask, did we all celebrate our LEADERS this past year, in same fashion? I mean LEADERS, that have actually tried to LEAD US somewhere? I know I didn’t. Thats the main reason I would feel shameful to go all out and celebrate BIG’s life and death.

And before all you E-thugs start flamin, flappin ya gums…this is just my opinion and the way I feel about the situation. If you don’t like it, I don’t need to hear about it.

One Hundred….Rest in PEACE Biggie Smalls
