What! No “Innocent” by Alexander O’ Neal and Cherrelle produced by Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis who essentially made the same song 5 times in a row (Prince’s Time joint “Give It Up just flipped). That joint must be grouped with any “Oh Sheila” or “Digital Display” video post.
Ready For The World were them cats back in the day. Every one of RFTW’s hotel rooms trash baskets were filled to them brim with empty activator bottles…God bless Melvin Riley.

Just to name a few. Anyone else here the Minneapolis urban myth that he was supposed to be Prince’s #1 protege a la Morris Day?
I love The Deele’s joint….but I always laugh at dude and his gold tooth.
Props on the post. I grew up watching these videos. Classic shit.
Oh my gosh, yes, a thousand times yes!!! I was at this party last night where they were playing All Nite Long and that shit was KNOCKING
@ 40:
The story went that Alexander O’ Neal didn’t like having Prince tell him what to do and that his voice was too “deep” and didn’t fit with Prince’s vision of what The Time was supposed to sound like. Prince installed his boy Morris Day in The Time instead and Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis were in The Time as players and moonlighted by producing tracks for Alexander “I Love Me Some Cocaine!” O’ Neal and other Minneapolis acts (Ta Mara & The Seen) right under Prince’s nose.
Eventually, Prince caught ’em and fired them from The Time…They went off and started Flyte Tyme (get it?) Productions and them niggas got super rich making hits. Eventually, Prince let them back with The Time…who he was still producing tracks for. The Time has had so many lineup changes it’s crazy. Count how many mofos are in that band in Grafitti Bridge…they don’t need all of them dudes!

If it were not for Colonel Abrams, a lot of pirates in the industry would be living on bread and water. He single-handedly changed the groove when he released “Whatcha Gonna Do” and “Release The Tension.” The ballad “Leave The Message Behind The Door” followed soon after which made the way for the international dance hit “Music Is The Answer” which sold in bucketloads, and was played at Paradise Garage for one whole hour the first time the best DJ of all time, Larry Levan, played it , and it became the anthem of the legendary Garage Club. “Trapped” was ripped off by Rick Astley on the track “Never Gonna Give You Up” and people tried to copy his voice with Norwood “Give It Up” amongst others trying but falling short of the mark. The Colonel is a legend, and he has the longevity to prove it as he is still making tough tracks today. Checkout “Traxsource.com” for his brand new releases for 2008 and beyond. The Colonel is the pioneer of House /Garage, but he can write/sing all kinds of music. Buy his new music from Traxsource.com
