I see that some of you haters didn’t feel my Silver Centurion Iron Man Air Max. True story is that gold and crimson are the most popular colors for the golden Avenger, but NIKE didn’t have a golden leather and I had an itch that had to be scratched.
What I decided to do was to find some images of Iron Man’s many incarnations. His outfiit has changed more than any other superhero that comes to my mind. I suppose when you have the money that Tony Stark does you can afford to upgrade your style. Mostly though because the technology of our world changes so rapidly Iron Man has to always represent himself as someone who is ahead of the curve.
Google found this artist for me named RONNIE THUNDERBOLTS who is a big fan of the Avengers and he has illustrated almost every series of armor that Iron Man used. Peep game for a minute…
This is the 1960’s version of Iron Man. I never got into this mask he wore. What was the point?
The 1970’s Iron Man had rivets on the faceplate.
The is the classic 1980’s Avengers Iron Man suit.
The Silver Centurion, my inspiration for Air Max 180s
The “stealth” suit uses a layer of anti-radar detection ceramic plating to keep Iron Man on some clandestine shit.
Iron Man had this suit during his stint with the West Coast Avengers.
This armor is a little more clunkier than the earlier West Coast Avengers suit.
Iron Man’s homey James Rhodes rocked this suit. This shit had some serious firepower. I guess that’s why ol’ boys code name was War Machine.
The ‘Heroes Return’ storyline Iron Man. Dart, did you eff with that storyline?
Modern armor Iron Man. This suit looks like Iron Man and Ultron had a child.
This is the armored suit that Iron Man wears in the superheroes Civil War series. Its way sleeker than that modern armor atrocity.
Always into that 70’s one–looks better when it’s sleek. (Deciding if I should throw a “pause” in there or not.)
The funniest, though, might be the second one ever, when he updated the clunky original by just painting it gold, and whenever he needed to contact someone with radio waves or whatever they used in the 60’s, he just had a giant fucking antenna come out of his shoulder.

It was usually about twice as long as the one in that picture though, (maybe a “pause” again?) which is even funnier.
heroes reborn? wack as a mother. marvel was all “HEY IT IS NEW HEROES….. BUT THEY ARE THE SAME…” and then two years later pulled it all because of sales and overall lack of the strength. Waste of a few good years of comics reading, for real 🙁
The modern armor and civil war suits are totally influenced by manga mecha patlabor and gundam suits. My GOAT armor was the West Coast Avengers Mark IV’s or whatever number they were.
them 180’s were flavors regardless of which Iron Man suit is tops
That movie is straight fi-yah!
Nah, during the whole Heroes Return storyline I was trying to become Boston’s next top underground emcee and work myself into an early grave. No Hulkbuster armor? It was hella ugly.
100 Million opening weekend? The sequel has officially been greenlit! Get ready to see War Machine in 09.
One.
Here’s a cross-promotional idea gone to waste…why didn’t Ghostface do an “inspired by the motion picture Iron Man” soundtrack like Jay did with “American Gangster?” There was so much dialogue in the movie that Ghost will probably end up using on J-Love mixtapes and shit, so why not go all out? If Ghost can make songs about mermaids and cartoon characters in the forest, I’m sure he can do a 12 song LP pretending to be the actual Tony Stark.
great post. b/c of it’s uniqueness, i fux with the 60’s version with the “horns pon head” joint. would love to see ronnie thunderbolt’s original grey and gold versions, the first two suits. those joiunts have really grown on me. btw, dug the flick, not the best evah superhero joint (sp2, x2, blade 1, hellboy, batman returns) but up there. glad to see ghostface did make an apprearance.
A fascinating discussion is definitely worth comment. I believe that you need to write more on this subject, it may not be a taboo subject but usually people don’t discuss these subjects. To the next! Cheers!!
This web site truly has all the information and facts I needed about this subject and didn’t know who to ask.
