Laser Beam Rap FTW…

darth fiasco

Editor’s note: We are lucky to have readers who are proactive in their love for art. A reader hit me up and asked why I didn’t have a drop on this or that. I told the reader that it wasn’t because I didn’t fux with this or that, but because I didn’t have time to fux with this or that, but if he would take a minute to draft a drop I would certainly put it on the table for discussion. This is T-412 giving us a drop on Lupe Fiasco (I’ve been holding this image for a couple of years). Enjoy…

They say my future was dark…

So they say, but I say Lupe Fiasco just made one of my favorite new jams. A week ago he dropped his new single I’m Beaming. This record is representing Lupe’s third album Lasers. This is one of those jams that can get instant replay value for a few reasons. The one most important thing is the single was made for everyone to enjoy. Lupe shows he can spit three verses with nice content. The Neptunes come in with a monster beat and definitely raise the bar to higher standards. Not to mention, this is my wake n bake ishh right here ladies (start your mornings right people.). Watch the video, it was made by Illusive Media. It features help from a bunch of little kids running around all crazy/acting. Besides that, Shouts to DP for letting me share this with you, Lupe’s making hit records and someone had to show love.

Do you remember me the guy from verse one?

This video is pushing positive out energy and it reflects. Try playing it and not start dancing or start singing along to the hook. To say the least its refreshing to have lyrical content match the production, and to be released as a single? This what most artists cant do yet strive to with great pressure from recording companies, rushing your favorite artists with deadlines, dates, forced R n’ B collabos and the results ending not up to par(no names). 1st and 15th is an independent label and you can taste the organic roots.

Yeah its me again the guy from verse two.

Doesn’t it feel great to have refreshing music? With actual content with lyrical wordplay to boot. I had to pull a few lines out. Back to the lyrics, you gotta really listen to the content within, shit is real. One of the many examples of Lupe going in on I’m Beaming.

“Now those the type of eyes, I not cry from
You see the tears of fire run out my cryin’ songs.”

Example of Lupe going in from the heart. ^ These two quotes, (above and below) they reminded me of similar songs by two great artists can you guess who??

“And baby girl, what does it matter where your purse from?
Your hurr done, your nails did, your ass fat, but you’re dumb.”

Does going against the grain work on this one?? What about that Gucci, Louie, Fendi?? Addressing the ladies in an uplifting attempt to see past material items… Nice!

I hope I’m not getting to deep into this, but at times its hard not to just let the imagination run wild. This is what separates the good from great. See with the help from The Neptunes, Lupe was able to paint those vivid pictures that we all hope to get from inspiring artists. Not only pictures but real pictures with emotion/feeling behind it. You can tell Lupe uses his music as way to vent somewhat therapeutically. AKA Getting some things off his chest. Ill let your imagination take you to where you want to go. So take it at face value or dig deep its still sweet.

See me now, I’m beaming…

Still, with all that being said. Lupe hasn’t released an album since ‘The Cool’ in 2007. There is no question Lupe’s wordplay continues to get better with every release. In time I believe he will still be doing his craft with great passion and will no doubt be a huge part of Hip-Hop’s future. This will show greatly in the next few years. Shit, he’s even your favorite rappers’, favorite rapper. Check the first LP. There are all green lights in Lupe’s lane. With our attention now, three years later and timing might be everything.

  1. This track was butter from when it leaked a while back, Lupe’s wordplay paired with choice of topics makes him so under & overground effective. I was psyched to see visuals for such a dope song & I’m glad he didn’t go to artsy for the vid- and lose a bunch of clowns.

This instantly became one of my favorite Lupe songs the minute I heard it. The eyes bars were ridiculous.

  3. I copped it somewhere on the ‘Nets about 2 months ago. The first thing I thought were the lyrics were hella on point. I’m not a Lupe fan, but this is a cool ass song.

  4. king blair says:

Lupe is a duche and none of his albums have held long self lives with me his Superstar remix he got wax poetic by not just TIP but Jeezy murdered him too……plus I aint forgot that Hip Hop Honors shit either

  5. you lose says:

king blair you lose. f&l and the cool are both still classic albums. AND. TI didnt kill Lupe on that remix AND Jeezy didn’t even murder your comment. Nigga rhymed accord with accord with accord. GTFOH

  6. king blair says:

@ you lose. Ninja you done lost your damn mind Lupe aint no where near a classic I get tired of niggas saying decent shit is classic just cuz it aint wack yall standards are tooooooo fucking low. Classic music changes the landscape of sound Lupe has yet to do that

  7. MzAhmad says:

“Classic music changes the landscape of sound Lupe has yet to do that”
yeah they said Crank Dat was a new movement. guess soulja boy is classic….smh

  9. fosterakahunter says:

I digs most of what Lupe does (stupid rap handle, notwithstanding), but is this ni@@a really rocking Vader armour?

  10. BlackStar says:

    @king blair
You’re just ridiculous. Do you really believe Jeezy is more talented than Lupe? And even if you don’t think either of his albums are classics they are far more than just decent.

  11. thesiz says:

    not feeling it…

  12. Jaislayer says:

This Lupe track is dope. He always has at least four or five hot songs on an his album. I need Lupe to drop an album with some heat. Shout to Dp for that pic of Lupe in the Vader outfit…COMEDY!!!

  13. the_dallas says:

Lupe track is official. I agree that Lupe doesn’t have a “classic” rap album but his two previous CDs are serviceable. The Cool actually > Food & Liquor in my opinion.

King Blair what up? I give you permission to let that Hip-hop Honors fiasco go. Big Boi mangled his tribute to Treach and no one give him what for. Sure he is Big Boi, but that wasn’t an excuse for him to be rocking fake Jordan’s at a Sneaker Pimps event either.

We gotta let these dudes be human even if they are our heroes.

  14. RTHSTN says:

Lupe is not a great MC yet but he gets better with every album. I’m beamin is crazy! If I’m Beamin is any indication of his skill level then Lazers will be his masterpiece.

Please listen to the Enemy of the State by Lupe. Dude is on another level now. Even his early mixtapes are dope, Fahrenheit 1/15 1-3. Dude is a special artist, and how many artists can we say are actually MC’s? Most people in the game today are just rappers, and only want to make money. Lupe wants to inform and teach his listeners something.

@King Blair If you think Jezzy & TIP are better than Lupe is it because of album sales or lyrical content / skill?

I get tired of people riding good beats and talking about hoes & rims. I get it your the biggest trapper alive, you got bricks and a bunch of chains. Teach the people and get back to the essence of Hip hop.

  15. shanklin says:

yo, this shit is mad weak. maybe if i started listening to rap in 2006 i’d find it interesting. but i didn’t. and its not

  16. king blair says:

You right Dallas Penn I can forgive him for the Hip Hop Honors shit its just too many people ride his jock he not that dope and no Jeezy aint lyrically better than Lupe but he damn sure constructs better songs and albums lets be real here Lupe albums tend to become montonomous after a few listens

  17. T-Mart says:

How about we debate the fact the jeezy is in it for the money.(YEAAAAAHHHHH) (THAATTSS RIGHHHT) (ADLIB HERE, ADLIB THERE, ADLIBS EVERYWHERE?!?.) – JEEZY 3.A.M. Lupe’s in it for the love of the art and performs his music with passion. Regardless if the record is street or not. Not even What. But HOW.

its never what you do but how its done……
    nas- no ideas original

  18. BIGNAT says:

man dallas why waste a second post on this guy you already did one at the allhiphop site. wait you let some guy bust a fan boy nut on your site. if you going have post claiming somebody the best at least do it yourself. i have said it before and i will say it again lupe is good but he does not mingle with your favorite artist. he doesn’t come out and kill people on there own records you giving this fucking hermit praise. i don’t get it yeah he drops good shit i agree but is it classic? i think not and what blair is saying about that song is lupe got murked on his own song. not that tip and jeezy are better than him lyrically. jeezy came out with energy lupe was kinda flat in the middle and tip cleaned it all up. he just got lost and was kinda boring on his own remix when he should have rapped circles around them. also the i’m beamin song for some reason it takes me back to i’m shinin by charles hamiliton off the pink lavalamp mixtape. i like i’m shinin better than this song anyway. someone put lupe is your favorite rappers favorite rapper that might be true but i never hear lupe. doing any songs with my favorite rappers to judge lupe’s excellent ability. it’s the spirit of competition motherfuckers case in point is kanye west. to me when he shows up on anybody elses song he automatically goes into i am going murk this song mode. i want to see lupe do some more of that if he does and starts putting his foot on the neck of his fellow rappers. then pour me a cup my niggas i will sipping some lupe kool aid with you.
