It’s that part of the DP.Com show where we mail away some free shit.
I was outside of a jobsite in downtown Brooklyn and this old man was selling dollar books for kids. Mostly coloring books and the what not. My eyes came across the cover above featuring the Batman Beyond character. I bought all the books he had on the table (8). They are perfect Random House readers for your kids 6-8 yrs old.
If you are unfamiliar with the Batman Beyond story it was fashioned as the evolution of the Batman character that might have followed The Dark Knight Returns storyline. Batman is inactive and elderly, but he still maintains the cave because he knows that someone will arrive to replace him as Gotham’s caped crusader. It ends up being a kid in high school.
I have enjoyed the Batmen Beyond cartoons for their stylish verve. The stories weren’t half bad either. Copp the DVD’s if you see them on sale in Wal-Mart or wherever. getting back to the matter at hand. If you have kids between the ages of 6-8 (I see you 1969, Combat Jack) then hit the thread so I can mail you a copy of this comic. DP.Com is for the kids!
Don’t have kids and I’m not horning in on the goods. Just wanted to say There’s a Justice League Unlimited Episode where McGinnis is older and finds out some shit about how he came to be that’s dope as hell.
Uncle Dallas rocks. You know that my oldest LOVES everything you send him. Thanks for ALWAYS thinking of my boys.
yo this jawn is for real. I remember right around the beginning of high school, the WB afterschool lineup always included some futuristic Batman jumpoffs right as I was getting back from my post-school extracurriculars.
You know I am already plenty strapped with comics and swag (old definition, not Soulja Boy definition), but I just wanted to drop a co-sign on your nerditry. You stay thoro’, D.
I usually hate on when they revamp my favorite comic book characters in cartoon to open the market for the yung ones. Batman Beyond was one of the first projects in that vein that I wholly co-sign. Good shit DP. Good shit.
Whassup Dallas,
My son loves all things super-hero/villain! before he was born i worked at Vibe/Spin Magazine and they use to send the editors boxes of comic books and nobody wanted ’em. I used to walk away with boxes every month. Now i’m not a comic book guy, but at the time my lady was preggers and i thought it would be dope if, when our little guy came into this world he already had his comic book collection started!!! Fast-forward seven years and now my son is a full-fledge fiend!!! so, it would be a great honor if he knew the comic came from THE Dallas Penn…also it would be great repayment for the time i let you hit my blunt outside that Vibe event (yeah, that was me, too LOL).
Stay Up, Dallas!!!
LOL @ C. Corey x DP x blunts at the Vibe event.
DP -My baby girl is 4 but she loves Batman and Spiderman. If the book doesn’t have too much of the ol’ ultra violence, I’ll take one for her. I’m around the way… no stamps required.
side note.. I recently started watching the Justice League Unlimited jernt on boomerang.. MOF I’m watching it right now.. I slept on that shit for years.
Man…sorry I’m SO LATE on this drop, but Batman Beyond is what’s up. And Amadeo was absolutely on point; the Justice League episode that “completes” the Batman Beyond mythos is called Epilogue. My personal favorite (you can find it on youtube).
