What is the magical allure that Hennessy holds for Black folks? It is our glory and our downfall. You see what the Henroc did to our homey ‘Ye Tudda at the VMAs? And still we flock to the brown for our salvation.
When I have kids before I hold them up to the stars for my ancestors to view I will baptise them crumbsnatchers with some Henny on their foreheads.
The spirits were in full effect Wednesday night for this event called Hennessy Artistry curated by the Roots and Common. Hennessy is the slave song spiritual syrup. Do you understand now why they call liquor spirits?
I had to take a pic of white dudes at a Hennessy event. It’s like seeing brothers chilling at a Pabst Blue Ribbon party.
Hennessy enabled homegirl to tie that bowtie… With her mouth.
The legendary got down to business. I’ve declared previously that Black Thought is the number one emcee dead or alive. Thought moved the show along from performer to performer seamlessly creating hype and excitement as he set the stage for each unexpected guest.
Thanks to Hennessy the Roots actually performed in front of Black people for a change.
Gingerboy crooner Colin Munroe showed he got soul.
Bilal was taking the sisters to church. This brother better be careful too because one of the big girls up in that joint might could’a snatched his little narrow ass up and used him for a tampon.
On second thought, that’s prA’li all Bilal ever wanted.
It was fun to see Tip do some ATCQ classics. Good thing Common and Black Thought were on the mics also to help Tip remember his rhymes
U.N.I.T.YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
The Queen of rap tore the house down. I haven’t seen Queen Latifah perform in a thousand years(Naughty era). She is totally what the game is missing and by that I mean her incredible talent on the mic.
Not so much to her Sapphic skills.
The spirits were flowing freely and the full cipher of Hip-Hop was represented at the Hennessy Artistry event. Even Hip-Hop curmudgeon Ernie P. can’t be mad at that. Then again, I’m sure that Ernie P. could hate on a childbirth.

Holla when you get that bowtie footage
Man, I tried to win a contest through Henny to get to that party.
Good look, DP on the photos.
Yo fugger, keep my name out ya mouf, truth is when I used ta fugg with the spirit me and the Devil Jack D. were best friends, morning night or in between was a good time for me and him to build. Henny gave me a hangover from smelling it (unlike you I could not get past the taste)…………………trying to call #1 a Hater, damn where did that come from??????????? (yeah like I don’t know)
I Man is guilty as fukkk on that count, but I’m trying, give me credit for that.
Yo come over the crib one day and see the visual history of this whole thing from the 70’s,80’s, 90,s and the 2000’s. I’m retired, no work, no business, so I got time for you.plus you need to see what the honeys looked like thru all dem years wilding in my studio (“I don’t mind as long as it’s tastefully done” -famous last words out the minds of chicken headdddds………..) I even have a shot of Slick Rick with no eye patch and Rakim with a big afro and Nas with baby hair curls and you don’t wanna know what I got on the big Big L (atifah)..call me………even if your jailbird ass needs bail money……..
in LA when i went it was: De la soul(w/ Mf doom) The Roots (black thought and ?uesto). Common. Kanye. Mos def. Kweli. Queen latifah. Heavy d. Nas. Luda.
Wow, bananaclipse that means you saw a powerful show full of real deep artists except one (bitcchhass that needs attention and that OoBamma called a jackass) Peace, Ernie
Damn. Good looks on the visial aid, professor. Some of us cats ain’t as priviledge’d (no pun intended). I don’t miss a lot about my drunken monkey days, but I sure do miss the HennRock.
looks dope….what the hell is Pabst D??
saw Bilal and Com Saddam tear it down in ATL Monday when I took wifey to the Maxwell jawn….aint really been on the HipHop shows much, but they did they thing…..as I get older I got this thing about going to events where the men utnumber the women….Naw I can’t even do them type of events no moe….plus I done seen every artist I ever wanted to see several times over, only so many times can I see nikkas doing the same shit over and over……when I go to supposedly hype HipHop shows and be yawning 2 songs in….time to fly that coop.
