The Thunder Is Going Under…

durant

Watching the homey KEVIN DURANT the other nite against Golden State two things became obvious to me…

  • He’s the most exciting player in the Association (including Showbee and the LakeShow)
  • He’s still not ready for the MVP award, not yet
  • KD shitted on the Golden State Warriors for 40 points, but he needed at least three more in his final boxscore. His 3-point attempt at the end of regulation would have given the Thunder an overtime period to do what they should have done in the first place. That the Thunder can still lose this late to a non-playoff team means that they still aren’t tuned up for a long playoff run. DURANT might could use one or two players to further complement what he and RUSSELL WESTBROOK are doing.

I’m glad that KD isn’t a surprise around the league any longer. Sonn is the truth(no Paul Pierce). I’m not counting DURANT or the Thunder out of the 2010 post-season tournament, but I’m even more excited for what he will be doing next year. I never really liked KOBE and I never bought into the LeBRON machine. DURANT was the breath of fresh air in the Association. No one was handjobbing that dude on ESPN, but now its like everybody is a Durantula stan. Ah well, such is the league when your aging all-stars are playing in Puerto Rico to get themselves out of gambling debts.

    Around the Association…

While Cleveland boasts the best record in the league this season, every playoff team in the Western Conference has at least the same record as the Boston Celtics (the East’s #4 seed). The Western Conference ‘chip > the overall league Finals.

Sleepers sneaking into the 2nd Rd: Miami, Phoenix

Dwayne Wade will stay in Miami. No, Dwayne Wade will retire in Miami.

The Nets won’t have the league’s worst record evar this season, but there is always NEXT season.

The Association has become like the NFL in that this offseason could produce the highest number of coaching vacancies we’ve seen. Let me publicly say that I will volunteer to pack Mike D’Antoni’s luggage

Durant won’t be the MVP this year, and is only in the conversation to make it look like LeBron wasn’t already given it as he stormed off the court like a brokenhearted little bitch last year…
As it were, Durant and LBJ are gonna trade the MVP for most of the next 10 seasons.

Carmello is still gonna get paid(as per his nba contract)….but because he couldn’t leave the negro nonsense alone……league isn’t pushing him and he’s not gonna get consideration for mvp.

      he’s a beast though….

Howard is garbage but the league being what it is, he’s gonna get one in the next few years also………..

they dropped some stat line the other day like howard had strong chance to get like an nba triple crown

      lead league in field goal%
      rebounds and blocks same season

said he’d be the first to do it….which amazed me….thought wilt did it or shaq

    3. the_dallas says:

I thought the Association trip crown would be more offensive minded…

      FG%
      FT%
      overall scoring

Shaq wasn’t a big shot blocker, nor rebounder for that matter. Olajuwon was a better shot blocker. Sheeeit, Mourning was a better shot blocker.

Speaking of the Dream, there was a game where he had 10+ in points, assists, rebounds, steals and blocks. The official scorer took back one of his assists tho’ and denied him the first ever quintuple double.

Shaq was more hype than skill. So many skilled centers shitted on dude.

I thought in those years when the REAL nba centers all retired and shaq was the last one left that he would have done those numbers…

the field goal % for certain..

shaq was a decent and mobile 7 foot player….I stopped taking him(and the league) seriously when they played Philly in the finals and shaq was ELBOWING dudes in the face and no whistle…

had they called the game by the book…Iverson would have ring

Olajuwon is the BEST center of alltime….
wilt did his thing but beasting on 6’6 white dudes ain’t the same. kareem was nice…moses was a BEAST….(and actually taught olajuwon) but the DREAM just had the best all around game..NO WEAKNESS

he was doing alvin ailey moves on ewing they year they met in the finals…

I thought mr. robinson was gonna be the best center ever….but despite his military background, he had NO HEART…

Those are interesting takes on the “triple crown”. My approach is pretty basic: ppg, rpg and apg. Unfortunately, my take has a zero percent chance of happening, which makes your guys’ scenarios infinitely better than mine.

      DP, what’s up?
I have to disagree on the Shaq claims. Career averages of 11 rpg and 2.3 bpg definitely make him a “big” rebounder and shot blocker, albeit maybe not as skilled as Olajuwon or as emphatic as ‘Zo. I’d also have to say he’s been the league’s most dominant player since Jordan first retired – so much so, I’d argue he’s right around top 10 players of all time. Don’t get me wrong, (a veteran) Olajuwon got the best of (a young) Shaq in the ’95 Finals, but I’d like to point out he still played The Dream tougher than (the veteran) Ewing did in ’94.

I’m interested in why you think he’s so hype.

    7. the_dallas says:

Robinson was a center with a small forward outside game. Why you think San Antonio brought in the 6’8 Rodman to get the boards a 7footer couldn’t secure?

Olajuwon was a retarded athlete. I think I read somewhere that dude wanted to play soccer before he became a basketball player. He def danced on every center from his era. I think Bill Russell could have slowed the Dream down a bit because he had great footwork in the post also, but I respect Olajuwon’s career.

Part of the reason I am tuning out on LeBron (whom I really rooted for at first) is because of the machine that is hyping dude up constantly. I believe to this very minute that the league set up those “equipment failures” when Shaq pulled down the backboards.

David Stern was Tim Donaghy before there was Tim Donaghy

    8. Phlip says:

      6’8″ is Rodman’s “program” height…
Dude MIGHT be 6’6″, and that is what makes his accomplishments defensively and rebounding more impressive to me.

    9. getthesenets says:

      chris,

I think Tiny Archibald came closest to your version of the triple crown….2 out of three ain’t bad(no meatloaf)…..he led the league in scoring and assists the same year…

and this is why lebron is the real deal…he’s the closest thing to oscar robertson that the league will see….in a long time…above 20 scoring, above 7 rebounds, above 7 assists…

Dude beat DETROIT when it was still DETROIT and got a rucker team to the nba finals….the league fixes games, pulls WWF level stunts…but Bron making the finals with THAT team was a big accomplishment….

about Olajuwon and soccer….Dals, you know that jadakiss line
“I’m the reason dudes got deals the past few years/
sound anything like kiss and sign right here/

      ?

EVERY….E-VE-RY African born center who got drafted post olajuwon got signed based on dream…and people banking on them having half the potential that AO, or HO has…soccer is a difficult sport and playing it definitely helps in basketball but all those clowns were GARBAGE….
okafur, i think he was born here …..GARBAGE……

Olajuwon was just a freak of nature…that quick, that agile, that strong, that motivated…

Robinson’s stats were great(good rebounding numbers)…and he had all the tools…..but here’s where the problem starts NO HEART…because of this a lot of spurs teams fell apart..

Olajuwon’s desecration…..yeah desecration of Robinson that one year in the playoffs traumatized DR…he was NEVER the same player..

Olajuwon would have ABUSED Bill Russell…Russell played with his brain and forced you into doing things you were weak at. Olajuwon had NO weakness after his 3-4 year. There was no big man as athletic as him during the years Russ played.
olajuwon routinely abused Zo and Mutombo..who were the more defensive minded centers of his era..he abused rodman also..
      ————————————–

Rodman is the best defensive player I’ve ever seen…

he slowed shaq down during the second bulls threepeat & I SWEAR I saw him strip Magic Johnson…once…

and besides being short for the 4 position, he didn’t have any bulk like other short guys like Barkley….he was a little guy until he got to spurs…

ben wallace is the second best defender I’ve seen…..gary payton/artest are tied for third

    10. I must officially declare DP the first Durant supporter I knew. Before the league & the fans caught wind, you were hype on him, beginning of the season. Good eye, professor. Next year, he’s going to be a problem.

As well, next year, Kobe may need to replace 4 of his fingers, & his knee(s), like Steve Austin. I watch him play a lot, & he looks tired right now. Ain’t no Zenmaster trickery going on to psyche out the comp. My dude is beat. With “Drew Da Liabilty” on the bench, the LakeShow stands a pretty good chance getting their hats handed to them by the second round. Gasol is too David Robinson-like in the heart department to pick up the extra baggage. & Artest waits until the end of the season to fall back, the fuck? It’s his shoes; he wears some japanese shoes that sponsor him. Phil said he’s wearing “bricks on his feet.” Shannon Brown better learn how to shoot in between posters.

Dirk Nowitzki should’ve been a center. He wouldve been one of the illest ever.

    11. ^^unless he is & all these years I thought he was a forward. That would be egg on my face [ll].

    12. “Howard is garbage but the league being what it is, he’s gonna get one in the next few years also…”

Dwight forgot that he was a basketball player, in between trying to shut down his kid’s mother & making Ed Hardy gear look even gayer on black people. 7footers should stay away from skinny jeans & motorcycle tees.

^^^ Never heard that, but it’s QUITE believable. David Robinson did record a quadruple double in his day. 10+ Pts, boards, assists, and blocks in one game. It was a flash of his brilliance to me, but he let Shaq pwn him. I think Shaq was the only player I ever saw DR aquiesce to, until Timmy Duncan came to save him and help him get ringed up like a proposal.

Mufukka’s are having bar room brawls over here watching Durantula while the “FRAILBLAZER” team is in shambles. Brandon Roy’s knee injury is THAT knee injury, it was already repaired when he played for the University of Washington. You can repair an ACL, not a meniscus tear.

Paul Allen’s health is falling faster than a ho’s drawers, and he’s irate because they (execs) told him the Blazers didn’t need Durant, a player he desperately wanted. All of them are about to lose their jobs, trainers, GM’s, assistant coaches.

The curse of Sam Bowie (why pick Jordan when we have Drexler?) continues (we don’t need Durant, we have Roy. Pick Oden).
