NBA TIGHT PANTS REST IN PEACE SHOUT OUT…

young malik

The NBA playoffs are in full swing so I thought I could take a minute of your time to remind you of one of my favorite players to come out of St. John’s University. MALIK ‘SILKY’ SEALY was a credible college player and a reliable pro roundballer until his life was cut short by a drunk driver.

Bronx born, MALIK was the product of the NYC Catholic school system and I cheered for him when he decided to remain home to play college ball in New York City. This was the kind of character that MALIK represented throughout his life. He never lived as a ‘me first’ player, but he accepted the role when it was handed to him. MALIK was selected in the first round of the 1992 draft. In his eight years in the league he established his value as one of the players that you wanted on the floor in the waning minutes of a ball game.

MALIK was on his way home from a birthday party held for his then teammate KEVIN GARNETT when his car was hit by a vehicle moving in the opposite direction on the wrong side of the highway.

I like the possibility of KEVIN GARNETT coming to the Knicks in the off season. K.G. owes New York City biggtime since he is indirectly responsible for the loss of two of our beloved favorite sons, MALIK SEALY and CONRAD McCRAE.

Rest in peace my brothers. I will be cheering for y’all again when I get on the other side of the game.

  1. I saw that piece on Malik Sealy. My & my kids were watching the game, & my daughter was saying how sad it was. My sons were just like that sucks, but you know how unattached young boys are.

Damn DP, that’s a lot of weight to put on KG’s shoulders. You know his knees are bad.

    Grand$,
The OG drop I wrote was posted in 06 before KG went to Boston via free agency. I wanted him on the Knicks to reunite with Starbury before I found out Stephon was insane.

  3. ^^
Haven’t heard about Starbury in awhile. Wouldn’t be surprised if him & the Answer are eating vaseline off strippers somewhere in ATL.

LMAO @ “Wouldn’t be surprised if him & the Answer are eating vaseline off strippers somewhere in ATL.” I heard A.I. is doing party promotion in the ATL tryna keep them funky dividends (no E.S.T) coming in.

This is why I hate the falling off of the St. John’s Redmen. Too much history.

WTF is going on with the Cavs?

  6. I should preface this by saying I quit basketball, because of the Knicks sometime in the Lenny Wilkens era; before that I was a fanatic and, as a kid, a big Big East fan– Hoyas cap and all.

    How’s Lou Carnesecca’s health I wonder?

Anyway, we had St John’s and the Knicks– who were at least interesting before Pitino/Riley, even when were losing– to get hype around. Of course the Redmen aren’t even Redmen any more, and BK is pointlessly getting a Russian mafia-owned Nets.

I think I’ll stick to handball.

    I’ll always have handball

NYC doesn’t even turn out blue chip hoops prospects like that anymore.

Cavs quit on their coach tonite.

I wonder if Cleveland mgmt will fire dude before game 6?

don’t drive drunk..it’s some selfish shit….one yourself if you want, but don’t endanger other people.

KG is indirectly responsible for the loss of Malik Sealy? Man, that’s a crappy thing to say. That’s a lot of pressure on a man’s shoulders, and it supposes that one can shape what would normally be a freak, random occurrence.

Ahh Malik Sealy, I remember catching St. Johns games on channel 9 (WOR) and watching his “sneaky quick” moves while dismantling Big East comp. Sneaker game was proper too; remember him rocking the white, red and black Air Jordan Vs with the #23 on the heel. A true BX bball legend right there. A shame that Tolentine was shuttered. That was a sick high-school bball program (Brian Reese, Adrian Autry). RIP Malik Sealy
