Celtic Rising…

2008 SLAM

You can tell this cover is from a few years ago because the Celtics ‘Big 3’ isn’t buttressed by their point guard Rajon Rondo.

Rondo is approaching legendary status if the C’s go all the way and right now no one left in the tournament is playing with their confidence or determination. It starts from the PG position. Rondo is grabbing rebounds and loose balls [ll] like he really means it.

He is reminding me of Isiah Thomas and his leadership for that veteran team of Detroit Pistons. Except Rondo isn’t even 25yrs old yet. You knew he was tough for his ability to secure boards, but it’s his court intelligence that takes him to the next level.

Everyone will talk about the play where he dove on the floor, but this play right here where he gives Gortat the “banana in the tailpipe” (a direct Jalen Rose quote) was my favorite play from Game 3.

    that was sick

Note as far as team leaders is concerned, Rajon Rondo’s numbers are better than Ray Allen’s overall production in Points, Rebounds and Assists.

Anybody thought Grant Hill would have still been playing today?

    VEe

I was telling my younger cousin that grant hill looks almost exactly just like he did when he first went to Orlando….like he hasn’t aged.

THEN my cousin sent me that clip of Kobe…crossing him and making him do a handstand… crossed him at the top of the key…caught grant with his own old signature move….

speaking of old moves…isn’t Rajon’s move a less athletic version of the same move that Jordan did to Oakley and Ewing years ago..
    this one

    of course without the dunk…

^^hells yea, Grant got made an example out of. LOL. Kobe couldn’t be stopped that game, he was killing shit.

i think we all know if Magic win this next game… Celtics would be in a lil bit of trouble. just a lil bit.

  5. getthesenets says:

^kobe broke grant ankles AND his wrist on the same play

damn….even Jordan didn’t fall when Iverson double crossed him

Magic are playing like garbage….dwight howard would be a backup center in the 90s NBA…watered down league and no true centers anymore is why clark kent is dominating the league…no disrespect to dj clark kent…

    get,
Jordan’s classic move on Starks, Oakley AND then the dunk on Ewing is still the GOAT especially when Jordan stares back at Ewing like. “Fool! Is you craaaayzee?!”

    The stareback >>>

  8. The Suns and Lakers Series doesn’t even matter the Celtics gonna get that 18th championship

    Dals,

true indeed…Jordan did get 3 for one….that might be the greatest IN game dunk ever…..(dunking on and OVER 7 foot frenchman isn’t the same, sorry vince)

tell you a funny story…during the vcr era….and specifically during the no limit/master p era…dude had that dunk looped with the chorus of a Mystikal song playing

    “B*tch I’m a soldier, I WAS BORN TO BE a SOLDIER”

here’s the funny part……he always had the latest flicks….so we’d all head over to his spot on weekends….one of us was trueblue(and orange) knick fan….

without fail…..dude would somehow get that 4 minute dunk clip at the beginning of every film….

and we’d (drunkenly) go into the menace to society dialogue

“Oh man you got to get me a dub of this”

“shittttttttttttttttt, I’m selling this for 59.95”

knicks fan also a big ewing fan would ALWAYS get heated…

hey, it was funny at the time…

close second for best in game dunk….the mayor of sacramento,KJ dunking ON Olajuwon

at the last second you can picture Olajuwon saying “no, he’s not thinking of dunking…he couldn’t be”

Olajuwon is the greatest center I’ve ever seen play….but he got GOT

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifx_gRF-ouU

That staredown MJ gave Ewing would or could earn player a T in today’s watered down game…

  10. the_dallas says:

Do you see KJ’s elbow go thru the rim?

    Kevin Johnson >>> Steve Nash

There’s also a clip of KJ putting his sachs in Mark Eaton’s mouf. Most people don’t remember Mark Eaton but he was that sasquatch looking dude from the Jazz.

  11. getthesenets says:

    Dals,

    what happened to pause?

Mark Eaton….the ORIGINAL Shawn Bradley….he was on more posters than farrah fawcett in her heyday

    KJ beasted on Dream….straight up…

one thing the NBA doesn’t do is to promote the other great players of the Jordan era who didn’t win rings but who were dominant….like KJ and Tim Hardaway…. average sized guys who terrorized the league for years

    get,
I was just talking with my dude about the OG Hornets team with ‘Zo, Granmama, Muggsy, Kendall Gill and Del Curry. They used to give the Bulls the business. If the Hornets ownership at the time had gave a damn about winning he would have kept that team together.

I hope the C’s close this shit out tonight so I can watch Lakers games & talk even more trash…
