GHOSTFACE KILLAH: Tony Pretty Great…

ghost

When you look the career of Ghostface Killah you might have to put him on the all-time GOAT list. Over Jay AND Em.

Who has been doing Hip-Hop this good for this long? Ghost still spit like he was in the cipher on Broadway and 4th Street outside of Tower Records.

I like this joint right here he rocks with Trife the God. I think Ghost gets a pass for letting his son merc’k him on his own shit. It’s like the second coming of Carlito.

‘Black Tequila’ featuring Cappadonna and Trife

This is the track that reminds you how ill Redman is when you mix him with the Wu. These rhyme bars is all drugs.

‘Troublemakers’ featuring Raekwon, Method Man and Redman

I’m giving Starks his props for letting Black Thought hop on this track. Thought loves killing niggas on they own shit but you can’t defeat a master in his own chamber. Why Ghost had to say Pink Champale? Jellies?! Shamz daBaron?!? Murder.

‘In The Park’ featuring Black Thought

Starks blacks the fux out on this joint. Ghost has one of the rawest rap styles of all time. If he isn’t a GOAT candidate then who is?

‘Starkology’

‘APOLLO KIDS’ was better than it needed to be since it got zero promo from the machine. There is some town on the Russian/German border that is bumping this album hardbody, and they don’t even speak English. This is rap music from the very beginning of Hip-Hop but it isn’t dated its more like timeless. Timeless truth.

One thing about Def Jam is they get their CDs out. I live out in the middle of nowhere, where the best place to get a CD is the local Target and the rap section is maybe 5 feet long. Never thought they’d have the new Ghost. Wrong. They had like 10 copies of the bitch, and they had like 10 copies of Redman’s new disc. Def Jam’s got the distribution game on lock.

Ghost CD is fire. Get him some soul beats and it’s all good. Can’t put him above Jay though.

ghostdini my love!!! thank you for this article dallas.. oh and yeah im in brooklyn and shit it was harder for me to find this than i thought.. kings plaza dont have a sam goody anymore, target at the junction didnt even know ghost had an album out and had no copies, best buy in bay ridge yeah no copies available either…. finally found one at gateway…
after i finally got a listen (in an unprecedented feat, i actually waited to buy the cd before previewing it online), i am not disappointed. this cat hasnt put out ONE even mediocre album.. just a continuance of excellence!!!! signed, ghost’s #futurewife 🙂

Apollo Kids is amazing..Ghostface is the most consistently ill emcee of all time, there is no question in my mind. He’s on some now you see him, now you don’t, but when you do see him, he’s makin the most serious rap records you can hear in this new age of electronic mashup nonsense music..

    believe that!

  4. Ayre says:

Has always been in my fave 5, and never, ever disappoints. Soundtrack to my Winter.

  5. Saratoga N. Blake says:

Excellent album, save the Jim Jones retardation (redundant).

Also 1) this is the first time I’ve heard a Black Thought verse that did ALL the Dallas claims for him. I know he’s a fine live performer but BT’s chameleon skills don’t get me moving, and the Roots are VERY hit/miss for me. This was SUPERB, however. Let’s hear that solo BT album please!

Also 2) Sorry, Joell Ortiz is totally outclassed by Game. As somebody who repped most of “The Brick” from the day of release it’s somewhat disappointing, not that Slaughterhouse was worth a shit either. (Admit it: ya’ll spin that like Wu Massacre now: NEVER.)

Also 3) Ghost + Doom = when lord, when?

    FUCK JAY and EM.

  6. Saratoga N. Blake says:

PS– As artist, there’s no comparison, Ghost is so far beyond Shawn Carter it’s laughable. Elswhere, some asswipe will pop up to oh you don’t get it, Jay uses OCTUPLE-entendres… Fuck you!

  8. superbadsolace says:

TELL’EM!! Looking forward to spinning this album. That track with Black Thought is really problematic. Starks has always been in my top 5 dead or alive.

  9. Ernie P. says:

I still play BULLETPROOF WALLETS once a week. The cut “In The PJ’s” with the line “Bald headed bitch mean” and “smoked up all his packages” is perhaps the illest rap song ever recorded. Just wish they had done a video for it.

    $YK,
Def Jam is still in the chinese slippers regime

  16. $yk says:

^ I could envision LA walking around in clear jellies sandals too…nhjic

  17. Master CHeef says:

Dallas, I just read your article on why Jay-z can not be Illuminati. Your reason seems to be because he is too old to have any influence.

    1. Jay says toss the jersey in exchange for button ups, and what happened?

    2. He said quit drinking crystal, we’re moving to something else? Do you ever hear about crystal anymore?

    3. He said autotune was dead. T-pain, meanwhile, has not had a hit since (I’m not complaining).

These are just a few examples, I could keep going; but the point is that the hip hop community does do exactly whatever Jay tells them to do.

  18. the_dallas says:

Maybe the fans of rap music follow Jay-Z because I am part of the Hip-Hop community and I don’t find myself influenced by him. Evar.

And why are you spamming my site?

  19. Master CHeef says:

What does spamming your site mean? If you’re referring to me leaving the same comment on two different threads, it’s because I thought I left the first one on the most recent thread, but after clicking the submit button I realized that I had not gone back to the first page but was still on the second page! I know, I know, it was some king of an “internet faux pas” on my part, but I wanted to make sure you read my comment so that I could get a response.

I’m quite sure I prAhli committed another faux pas by leaving such a detailed explanation, but I could give a fuck what you internets elitists think. And for someone that’s not influenced by Jay Z “evAr”, I seem to remember you telling us, “Oh, y’all just dont know, if you y’all knew all the shit Jay’s done, all the crap he’s ghostwritten, and this and that… Just trust me, he’s the ‘GOAT.” Did you, or did you not say that. Quite a bold statement from someone that hasn’t even been influenced by Jay in the slightest.

  20. Master CHeef says:

I’m really not sure what you meant by spamming. If you meant I was “spamming” just by coming to your site, then that’s my bad, dawg. I thought all were welcome. If only the “elite” of “hip hop” are welcome here, then I can take a hint, brother.

  21. the_dallas says:

What are you talking about? I don’t frame my life around what any rapper says. My favorite rapper Sean Price calls Kid Cudi songs ‘DITB music’. Who cares what a rapper says? Grow a sack and become your own man. And while you are at it you can avoid this site as a favor to me.

  22. Master CHeef says:

your worshipping of sean price is no less pathetic than the kids that do whatever sean carter tells them to. go watch “hip hop, the hidden hand, and the degradation of black masculinity” by lenon honor on youtube.

and ponder this, o wise one, is it really “cutting edge” or even “funny” for an obese african-american with serious risk for diabetes and cholesterol to be making videos about guzzling bic mac sauce as if it were the jizz he so craves? how is stuffing your fat fucking face and jacking off to action figures from comic books hip hip?

seriously, watch that movie. lenon honor exposes how public enemy, krs-1, and other supposedly “concious” rappers are not “concious” at all. the message that you and sean price spread is cloaked as “underground” but yall too are mainstream and are NOT contributing to the uplifting of black people. yall spread just as much negativity as “jay-z”. The fact that you have somehow convinced yourself that you’re different from jay because you’re hip hop and he’s rap is so laughable. I’m by no means a jay stan but his flow alone is more hip hop than your whole existence.

  23. Master CHeef says:

oh, btw, since you want to be such a sensitive lil BITCH, I’m bout to go in

  24. Master CHeef says:

just to prove that I’m un-biased, I said Im not a jay stan, but I am a huge tupac stan. Tupac gets exposed extremely bad in this film also.

  25. the_dallas says:

Dude, you are a spam-stan. Now go blow on Jay’s flow [ll]
