Man… Much respect to Pete as five borough connoisseur but

    1) the Complex site is fucking EVIL with it’s bullshit one item per page– I’ve given up on even their better articles because of that nonsense.

    2) Pete, you rep some LOUSY Manhattan joints and some of the BK spots are totally fugazy. This is arguable, of course, but I can tell you’ve not properly rocked–

    * Gravesend especially but Flatlands, Canarsie and Bay Ridge too

    3) Am I hallucinating or did Lucali’s not make it? I have zero use for fucking Shawn Carter anything, ever, but dude ain’t wrong to make the trip to Henry Street.

    4) Grimaldi’s is ass, living on fumes. Totonno’s rose like a Phoenix!

    5) Dom should not get #1. I ate at DiFara’s on the regular ’94-‘2002, from just before it became insane– and insanely $$$– to eat there (one of the sons was excellent cook too btw, killer meatball sammich, linguine & baby clams etc) and the fuckery on Ave J deserves to be docked a few notches.

There’s more but I’ll stop here. Pizza Fiends Unite!

Tell em why you mad Son!! It aint easy making a list but i stand by my list & if you think some of the spots i picked are fugazzi then lets settle this with a PIZZA CRAWL!!

It’s be a pleasure, Pete. We could start at Armondo’s on Rockaway Ave in Canarsie (right outside the L) and work our way around.

It was interesting to see the Howard Beach joints on there, btw– worthy choices, though not at the expense of, say, Ciccio’s in Gravesend, Krispy Pizza on 13th Ave in Dyker Heights, the original La Villa in Mill Basin (folks say the Park Slope spot is also ok)… and a Flatlands joint I’m forgetting the name of but it’s at New Lots Ave and Hendrix.

I used to have the Bronx on lock but haven’t spent enough time there the past cpl years to argue that too much. I remember tho’ a joint on 149th St near the Bruckner.

Also, while I love pizza, you know what would be food crawl mindblower?

Top 25 NYC African joints– I usually prefer Guinean/Senegalese to Nigerian/Ghanaian but not so much it’s ever boring.

The one downside of Senegalese joints is a tendency to go steam table after a while instead of a woman in brightly colored dress preparing everything fresh– sorta the West African equivalent of the pie that’s been sitting under the counter for 4-5-6 hours.
