Yelawolf Is RadioActive…

Yelawolf is going stadium status with his latest album ‘RadioActive’. He specifically said this album is his attempt to cross over to the mainstream rap music markets. After listening to the album in its entirety I definitely heard some of those ‘lighter in the sky’ arena rap songs. Apparently the direction from Eminem is paying off.

At least Yelawolf still keeps his live performances trill.

I saw him at Highline earlier this year…A lot of people criticize his music but he’s one of the livest performers i’ve ever seen tbh…Stage diving, crowd surfing, moshing, walking along rails, he interacts with the crowd unlike any other artist i’ve ever seen…

I appreciate DP’s honest enthusiasm but I’m not buying ** ANY ** of these white boys, from Assclown Bronson on down, or up, or whatever. And it’s not a racial issue per se but whether it’s retard immaturity and quasi-emo horseshit, I don’t hear lyrical/poetic invention that transcends the pro forma bullshit… Gimme the white Sean Price, Doom, Prince Paul, Nas and I’d be all over it.

Actualy, most impressive white boy I know is BK’s El-P, who can be a little emo sometimes but dude has a very unique concept/sound.

That said, Tone, while I don’t care for rock anymore either, there are all sorts of bands, solo artists who are live and interact with the crowd. Props to Yela for at least being showman but it’s hardly unusual. When I used to see Sun Ra, the whole band marched through the crowd (Ra himself was too frail to move well then).

Yeah, I’m probably gonna be a late convert to dude. Then again, it took me awhile to pick up on Das Racist after seeing their awful live set.

there can never be another doom

Oh, I agree Nat but ** that ** is the level of invention I crave…

Not to harsh on DP fam but let’s take someone laudable like Meyhem Lauren. I’m not saying it’s his ** fault ** in this era of the game, but how can I possibly crave his work when he’s dropped eight jillion verses already? Some of which are fire– many of which are just filling bars. I don’t know the answer– dude wants to get name out I know but would there have been a Doom or Chuck D. if they had that kind of forced work rate?

Jay Electronica do nada nonsense (sorry 40!) isn’t the answer either, of course but I’m hype for, say, Roc Marciano the way I can’t be for Meyhem, let alone any of these jive white knuckleheads.

Foster, Das Racist are greater artists at this point than performers but they may prove themselves live yet. And if they don’t– there’s KRS-One live, the Roots… and, who else, ** really **?? Meth, Ghost solo on a good, weird night but rarely do we go to a hip-hip show and came away MORE impressed with dudes than they were on record.
