iFux With Phony People…

Phony PPL is a rap band coming out of Brooklyn. It’s too simplistic for me to call them the Roots 2.0 reboot, but that is the vibe I am catching from them. Rhythm, blues, rap, soul and just a tinge of funk. I’ve seen them perform twice already in the new year and I’m hype to see them develop their groove.

DL their debut album ‘Phonyland‘ and catch the PhonyPPL wave…

‘Break It Off’

‘4 The 1st Time’

‘If This Is How Love Feels’

‘Save My Generation’

Sounds like something I will dig. There was a crunk rap band named Whole Wheat Bread also, they did the rock version of Lil’ Jon’s crunk songs.

Also, Dallas I heard you on the Combat Jack show mentioning Baranquilla & Cumbia. I see you dabble in the African Diaspora. Palenques -> HardBody

    boi-dan,
The story of the Africans in the Americas is a crazy one. The remnants of this are visible in the current socio-political structure of the culture.

Basically, shit is fucked the fuck up

Oh yeah, I study the African Diaspora, its amazing. We are all from Africa, but we had different experiences and different responses and somewhat different cultures. African – Americans invented the Blues, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Jamaicans invented Reggae, Trinidadians invented Calypso, etc……

    Its like algebra, A(B) = C Africa(New Country) = Afro-New Country Dynamic

    It’s all science
Black Americans during the Sharecropping period created Blues
Black Americans during the Harlem Renaissance created Jazz
Black Americans in urban blight created Hip Hop
