Get Ready For Combat…

The Combat Jack Show turned a corner somewhere back there when it wasn’t just for shits and giggles anymore, because it was for real. I can’t even point to the day or the moment when I realized this. But I knew it was real, and everyone in the room where the podcast is recorded knew it was real.

It was all a dream when Redman sat inside the booth with us the other night.

A beautiful, triumphant dream.

Redman’s journey thru Hip-Hop is an ill doctrine. Like so many other kids who first experienced Hip-Hop and knew they had to capture some part of the art for themselves Redman was just that true believer for himself. Representing the legacy of artists from Brick City New Jersey, Redman is one of the top 5 rappers of all time. ALL TIME.

Before Tyler the Creator would sit on his own psychiatrist couch and before Eminem would use Reggie Noble’s bugged out narcotic flow with the gimmick of whiteness Hip-Hop blessed us with Redman. The Combat Jack Show recounts the journey with Redman while we reminisce on some stories which no one else ears have heard. This show is classic like the artist sitting with us. The night was epic madness. Enjoy.

Get ready for Combat…

Shouts to all the sponsors for this webcast webisode of the Combat Jack Show. New Era, Poland Spring, Doritos/Frito-Lay. Crown Royale, Guinness and, as you might expect, medicinal marijuana.

When you are fuxing hardbody with Redman you better have the super official snacks on deck.

Red asked me, “Who ate up all the birthday cake Oreos dP?!?”

The organized confusion going down in the booth.

The stars were in the building even tho’ the rain put a fog in the sky. PNC Studios has been on fire because of the Combat Jack Show. It took a minute to get the spaceship up into the atmosphere but we are flying high right about now. All puns and double entendre intended.

After the show and post-show meeting wraps we like to have a little early breakfast bangout in one of the local greasy spoons. This is the ‘No Joke’ cheesesteak from the spot on Flatbush Avenue next to the old movie theatre.

Great show. I didn’t know that EPMD passed on El Da Sensei. Shoutout to Tame for sticking with his boy rather than going for dolo. And again that Hit Squad show was insane. They need to go on tour with that show, press up merch, put that shit on Broadway, on ice, everything.

  13. Mark Dub says:

Red is still ill after all these years. I was INSTANTLY a fan when he said let me freak it in Korean…and then proceeded to. Top 5 status

  14. abstrizzle says:

great show. A King was definitely thirsty for the pause. lol. but i don’t blame him because Red was saying a lot of pause worthy shit.

  15. Tron_Doe says:

appreciate what you guys are doing for real, man.

  16. Fosterakahunter says:

    Too dope, DP.

  17. DirtyJerz says:

I always envisioned the show going into planetary motion, but this episode right here!?!?!?
Muddy Waters is in my top 5 hip hop albums, and being from NJ, you KNOW I was tryna call the show.
I love the way the all guests walk away from each show knowing they just got on a spaceship.

  18. TED says:

benhameen took it out there too

  19. Blackwater says:

they dont do radio, podcasts, blogs, interviews, whatever the fuck like this anywhere. Y’all really go so hard for the culture and we appreciate it. This show has become essential listening. And the comedian Red was talking about the end is Corey Holcolm from Chicago

  20. bville says:

I had forgot all about the Red and Meth show. Great interview.

  21. Wardell Franklin says:

You really can’t say enough great things about Redman, I think– perhaps THEE most underrated ARTIST in hip-hop. Maybe it’s his sense of humor or the weed– though nobody handles their high better– I dunno but record and record, verse after verse, Reggie is dope as fuck, even on albums with lesser production or too many guests for my taste. I don’t know how many of ya’ll listen to older rock and R&B music but I’d almost compare Redman to someone like Bo Diddley, (speaking of “Muddy Waters” style) a genius who wasn’t often recognized as such because he was so goddamn funny and did such hot shows. Dig THIS–

And explain why I’m supposed to be impressed by some out of breath crapper standing in front of some nerd with a laptop?

  22. Dubz says:

Best interview I heard in years.

  23. A-King says:

Yeah, Red was the truth despite the pauseworthiness. LOL! #Salutes

  24. AreaFY says:

One of the best episodes yet. Cant wait to listen to more greatness from you guys. Salutes as always. Stay winning.
