The Museum of the City of New York is one of the many landmark city buildings I get to work on during the day. The Museum has been selected to participate in a grant program for $250,000 run by the National Trust for Historic Preservation and American Express. This is a project that is part of our ongoing renovation of the building and it would be great to get this funded.
The winner of the $250,000 grant is determined by popular vote. We are competing against 40 other cultural and educational institutions in New York City. There will be second and third prizes as well as the top $250,000 prize.
You can find out more about the program at this link: Partners In Preservation
The grant will be used to restore the Museum’s beautiful wrought iron gate at the stair to the Museum’s main entrance and the two statues in the niches on the Museum’s exterior on Fifth Avenue. This press release link will give you more information on the program and what MCNY plans to do. Here’s what I need for YOU to do…
Voting for the PIP grant already started on April 26th! Anyone can vote once per day from April 26th through May 21st, and I hope that you will vote daily for the Museum and encourage your family and friends to do the same! There are three ways to vote:
(1) desktop web
(2) mobile web
(3) Facebook
Voters may use different platforms on different days, but may only vote once each day. Votes are tabulated in real time, cross-platform. Facebook users are not required to “like” the PIP page. On any of the three platforms, voters can choose to login using their Facebook account, or create a PIP account. A login is required to verify one vote per day. Once you create an initial account – which is easy to do – then all you have to do is login.
Remember to vote every day. And spread the word.
