Thor And The Warriors Four…

power pack

I used to go to the Comic Book Club on Tuesday nights which was hosted by a couple of uber-geeks who would review dozens of titles weekly, but for the love of comics it was the best $5 I could ever spend. One of those uber-geeks, ALEX ZALBEN, has been granted the dream job of a lifetime. He gets to write a mini-series starring the god of thunder along with Power Pack. When Walt Simonson was on the drawing board for Thor it was one of the most lavish, fantasy filled books ever. Simonson created stunning characters as well as he gave a new edge to the staid Thor mythology.

Zalben is penning a Power Pack mini-series where the kids are faced with their grandmother’s imminent passing. As kids they try to prevent the inevitable and this means traveling to Asgard to somehow secure a mythical golden apple. These are the golden apples that have given the Asgardians their immortality. Power Pack hopes these apples can do the same for their grandmother. I like the storyline already and Zalben being a fan of stories like C.S.Lewis’ Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe means he’ll insert a dark and true life element into the story. It was the reality that nothing lasts forever which makes me love comics to this day.

Have we changed from the earliest humans who carved in stone and wrote on walls to express parables?

Nah, now we just kick the truth to the online youth.

I remembered that they let the two eldest Power Pack kids grow up @ one point & the older girl joined The Loners. Now they’re kids again & Franklin Richards is a kid, too…
