Al “Mr. Dooo” Sharp-Tone was on his way to start a campaign against Urban Action Coon and his Minstrel Unit after the “gangsta” act of assaulting a 14 year old. I find it interesting that Pat Summitt who is the end all/be all of everything women’s athletics has been so silent about this whole thing. Granted her Tennessee Lady Vols team was on the complimentary side of Imus’ comments but you find no other greater “SISTERHOOD!” than in women’s sports. I find it interesting and appaling that Coach Pat Summitt has yet to make one comment regarding this in defense of her fellow coach C. Vivian Stringer or in defense of the sport of womens’ basketball. She doesn’t have to pick a torch and join the Imus witchhunt, but I think in a world where its common place for men and women to write off most female athletes as butches and lesbians, and other rough & tumble types Coach Summitt could have released a simple statement along the lines of:
“It is a shame to see that in today’s world that female athletes have to endure such harsh criticism and ignorant remarks. I would like to extend my support to Coach Stringer and the Rutgers Women’s Basketball program and to women’s basketball across the country.”
Its not like she wasn’t part of this whole mess, its just that her team was referred to as more “attractive” than the Rutgers broads.
Coaches in other sports do this all the time and support their peers. When Chaney was being villified for “putting in a goon” cats like Boeheim, Roy Williams, Bobby Knight, etc came out in support of him regarding that this shouldn’t be a fireable offense. Because I have seen support like this in other sports I’m using that as previous precident regarding women coaches and more importantly Coach Summitt, Geno Auriemma, Gail Goestenkors, etc to say something… anything. In defense of the sport she loves. Especially when all these uber-Feminista athletic types are more caught up on the nappy headed part and are complete overlooking he called them all HOES.

When I heard the Imus statements this weekend, my jaw dropped wide open. But I a few minutes later, I wasn’t bothered at all. I agree with most of you. Before I actually stopped listening to radio all together (except some of the morning shows) I couldn’t believe they were letting the words hoe and bitch play thru the songs and just slide on air like it was nothing. I was like WTF!
