“They Shootin’! Made You Look…”

soprano

You a slave to the pages of a screenplay book.

I ain’t even gonna act like I wasn’t snookered into watching the finale of the runaway hit HBO series ‘The Sopranos’. I blame myself for accepting the hype of the show. The writers of the series crafted a story arc about a depraved, murderous cabal and made us feel like they were regular everyday Americans, albeit, with atypical jobs. That is the true phenomenon of ‘The Sopranos’.

By inserting the character of psychotherapist Dr. Melfi, ‘The Sopranos’ program established a level of plausibility. The problem with most of us Americans is our fear of doctors, especially shrinks. Diabetes is way more acceptable than shcizophrenia. The therapist makes the central character appear human. With that ‘The Sopranos’ became greater than any ‘Godfather’ or ‘Goodfellas’ set to film.

I love the way the series ended too. The writers took a shit on everybody by just abruptly rolling the credits without any gunfire set upon Tony Soprano. Nothing at all to satiate my own bloodlust and depravity. Just fade to black. Damn you DAVID CHASE! That’s what I get for believing the hype.

Fade to Black indeed. For me, Tony got whacked. His daughter walking through the door was the last thing he saw.

    Welcome back D!!
I loved the Sopranos and I am one of the few that liked the ending. I didn’t want Tony to Die. Even the FBI agent was starting to become “mob like”. When Phil got shot, dude was like “we got him!”. That tripped me out.
I thought the guy in the diner could have been a hit man so I found myself running in and out of the room. Then I heard someone in the living room shout, “The T.V. went off!!!! We missed it!!” Then I heard “Damn, they got us!!” We were forced to draw our own conclusions, I thought that was clever for a finale.

First of all, welcome back. With that said I will load into the crap that was the series finalie with both clips, and a spare! TV is a vast wastland where we the uncivilized masses should not be left to draw our own conclusions. We are but mere sheep and when the shepard leaves us to our own devises, we go crazy! He was just actualizing his power over us, like you said “Made you look!”—-SUCKERS!

  4. Tony’s Dead my dude. Several dudes in the restaurant looked real shaky. Plus there was the foreshadowing when Tony & Bobby went fishing and were pondering what death was like. Tony caught one in the back of the dome just like Phil. I think it was genius to just fade to black. Cause if u catch the sneak I’m pretty sure thats how it is…. R.I.P. T

the Godfather book > the Sopranos.
I think David Chase and the directors did their thing. I’m glad it is over though.

I love the ending for Sopranos because it ended the way it began. It’s kind of funny that man fans felt the ending was trash because Tony did not get popped or the fact that the ending was completely anti-climatic when in fact it, in my humble o-p-i, it was. It was a very realistic American ending. The anti-hero goes on with his life. There’s always the possibility of him facing federal charges for this or that, but that’s his reality. And let’s not forget the rampant snitching factor that currently exist in organized and unorganized crime.

  6. I thought the TV was fucked up too, but after thinking about it, I really like the ending. One of the greatest, if not the greatest TV show in American History. They ended it on a clever note, make your own damn conclusions. Did Tony get wacked, did he get busted? I love how they didnt tie everything up in a neat little bow. David Spade knew what he was doin, and he did it well.

The ending fucked me up too. It took that chick forever to park that whip. It just seemed like something was gonna happen.

And it seemed like everybody coming through the door looked suspect.

The thing that gets me is with all the action and drama in the previous episodes, how is the finale gonna be so lame. Aside from the New York Boss getting whacked there wasn’t any violence or action.

is it just me, or did anyone else find it funny as all fuck when Phil’s head got ran over and that dude threw up? i was fucking rollin’…

“I have no interest in explaining, defending, reinterpreting, or adding to what is there,” he says of the final scene.
“No one was trying to be audacious, honest to God,” he adds. “We did what we thought we had to do. No one was trying to blow people’s minds, or thinking, ‘Wow, this’ll (tick) them off.’ People get the impression that you’re trying to (mess) with them and it’s not true. You’re trying to entertain them.”

    – David Chase

    . . . no doubt
