The Association 2008: Trading Places…

trading places

There is less than two weeks left before the NBA trading deadline expires so that basically means there are two weeks until the Knicks season becomes virtually worthless. Until February 22nd I will live the dream that somehow ISAIAH can trade away the entire roster for KOBE BRYANT, TIM DUNCAN, LeBRON JAMES, CHRIS PAUL and CARMELO ANTHONY.

You know who definitely needs to get traded? The Nets point guard JASON KIDD. His homey GARY PAYTON finally won a title with Miami a few years ago. Now its time for J KIDD to have another shot at a ring. I fucks with KIDD (no AMAECHE) because sonn gets triple doubles like someone who is a foot taller. Withou a credible jumpshot JASON KIDD has been arguably the best point guard in the NBA for his entire career.

This has been a season of movement and realignment in the Association. SHAQ is in Phoenix, GASOL, formerly of the Grizzlies is in Los Angeles, and KEVIN GARNETT has sparked Boston to the league’s best record when he is on the court. So the question becomes this… Where should J KIDD be traded in order to have the best chance at winning a title? In my mind there are two prime locations in each conference.

Boston Celtics
Imagine adding KIDD’s on-court awareness and Finals experience to the talents of KEVIN GARNETT, RAY ALLEN and PAUL PIERCE? That would make the Boston Celtics the odds on favorite for the ‘chip. Plus, you know Beantown has an affinity for lite-skinded, ball hawking point guards. Word to DENNIS JOHNSON R.I.P.

The Lakers might still need one more piece even with JASON KIDD although they would become more exciting than the Suns. I don’t feel like any other Western conference teams become as measurably better with KIDD as the Lakers do. The Mavericks need to learn how to play defense from the position that NOWITZKI plays. That ain’t happening anytine soon.

I’d love to have J Kidd on my C’s, but there are a few problems:

    1) we have no one the Nets would want other than Rajon Rondo, and a package of him, tony allen, and kendrick perkins isn’t cutting it. 2) we have no big contracts to swap for him, unless we gave up Jesus Shuttlesworth and we need his shooting and general smooth-ness on the court [||]. 3) Finally, I’m not to sure Kidd wants to come back here, after his wife got heckled in the stands during the playoffs a few years ago, Bob Ryan said she should get smacked, and the fans chanted “Wife Beater” every time he touched the ball [||].

Good looks on the NBA drop – I think he’s going to the Mavs if anywhere for Eddie Jones, Jason Terry, Jerry Stackhouse, and some picks.

I dont see the Mavs giving up that much to get Kidd either. Jones and Stackhouse maybe, plus the Jet? Not so much.

Can we get the a trade for any of the Knicks who make over $10M per?

It would have to be Rajon Rondo, Glen Davis/Leon Powe, Scalabrine and/or a draft pick to wrangle Kidd away. Even then the fans would still be smarting from the shoert window of time that Kidd was the leader of the HATED NJ Nets between 2002-2005 when they used to clash with the C’s all the time. The “wife beater” chants were bananas…the T SHIRTS? Priceless.

Kidd’s kind of screwed as far as a good deal is concerned this season. Cleveland has pieces to move but too many of them are injured. Dallas wouldn’t dare pull the trigger on a Kidd deal. I got tickets for the Pistons game in March in the mail yesterday. Yessir!

    40-9 after tonight.

    One.

  5. Great post.

Kidd is like the teacher in one of those movies about some horrible school where the kids are wildin and can’t read. And then, Super Teacher comes in and gives them a little discipline and makes them believe in themselves. Then, at the end of the movie, everyone graduates and goes to Harvard, all due to one teacher caring. Kidd is like that: he makes everyone around him infinitely better. The Celts don’t have the pieces to trade for him. (Plus, the whole “Ryan-wife smack/wife beater/his kid has a thicker mustache than me and I’m 31 years old thing)The Lakers would be better but still wouldn’t make the finals. If he had ended up in Cleveland like two years ago, they’d be a force.

Also, I second the notion to trade any Knick stealing…er making 10 mill a yr. (Do you think Isaiah has photos of Dolan with a young boy? How else could that clown keep his job?”)

The mavs would still have Devin Harris to go along with Kidd if they give up Terry. Only problem is, those guys aren’t great shooters. if they swap Harris for Terry in the deal, the money isn’t right.

After seeing the way kidd played with Team America, I hope he gets a shot with a legit team, but i don’t see it happening this year. Anywhere he goes will have to give up too much to get him and he won’t have enough time to mesh with what’s left (even in those teacher movies, they have to go through some rough spots with the kids before things work out).

I would have said the C’s would be fine once Cassell gets bought out of his contract, then Rondo started schooling him the other night and Sam dropped the WWE clothesline on his head.

ps 16-0 against the west? Plus they dropped the Mavs and Spurs with KG on the shelf.

But hey, maybe the Knicks can get Beasley, Rose, or Gordon next year.

if the lakers end up getting kidd, i’ll finally forgive them for having rick fox’s quasi-homo self trying to hurricane kick doug christie from behind that one year.

by the way, chris childs giving kobe a 2-piece & a buttered biscuit = the illmatic of nba brawls.

  8. p-city says:

Kidd needs to head to Chi-Town. Hinrich and Noah for the old man. It works our for both sides.

Kidd will come in like the teacher who sends the kids to Harvard. Plus, the fans won’t give two shits about the domestic violence or the kid that looks like he was drawn by Charles Schulz.

When the Kidd trade gets announced, a big man free agent follows to the Chi in the offseason.

    Ring number 7! Number 7!

@Meka Soul: True indeed. I was living in LA at the time. And all the Mexican dudes I worked with who were DIEHARD laker fans, were like “your team lost.” I said “yeah, but Kobe thought he was too young, fresh and fly to get knuckled down by Roy Jones Jr. dressed as Chris Childs. A small victory that they don’t make stats for.”

  10. Incilin says:

The Cavs could really use a guy like Kidd. Orlando too.

  11. p-city says:

you need your own colmn. Kidd just went to the Mavs. Dallas vs. Boston in the Finals.
