MLK Jr: American Gangster

mlk

The Feds have a file on FRANK LUCAS and MLK Jr.

One of them was killed. The other celebrates life as a media darling.

The Return of Superfly?!? Say word.

How gangster must KING have been in order to push the Fed’s hand?

LUCAS is obviously someone’s puppet. That isn’t really gangster.

Discuss if you must…

What’s more dangerous: MLK fighting to uplift Kneegrows from white to make them EQUALS or a drug dealer pushing that “white” to further oppress and break apart families struggling in the hood?

Frank did the feds a favor by helping them poison kneegrows and keep them under control. all that fool has left is a reputation that is being disputed til this day.

    R.I.P. MLK.

Thats how it was and thats how it is. This dude killed so many poor people i’m surprised he’s not on a coin or some shit.

Ive been saying it since the second the credits rolled on American Gangster that this motherfucker has been built up to be the black Bill gates or some shit. His “business accumen” seems to be the thing people talk about first and foremost.

Nevermind a movie about an ACTUAL black CEO, lets lionize this shiftless motherfucker, who even today doesnt regret a gotdamn thing. I dont blame the writer or the director or the producer. It IS an interesting story and all, but Denzel shoulda known a lil better.

    cest la vie

^^Denzel shoulda known a lil better.

Like he should have known better doing Training Day? smh…please.

the Frank Lucas story is very compelling but half the shit in the film isn’t even accurate. They enhanced the facts to make a more appealing storyline which Coon ass Frank can only benefit from. What better actor to excite the viewer and bring life to such a man than Denzel?

Isn’t that what niggas in the hood aspire to have anyway…a bad ass legacy? I’m sure that fat rat can die happy now.

Man the only reason why I watched that joint was because Denzel had a role. I feel you.

I was at a discussion about MLK a while back and someone stood up and said something to this effect:
” MLK didn’t even want to be a part of the civil rights movement, it was by happenstance that he became such a huge figure. Some say carpe diem, and some say stick your dick in it, call it what you want.”

IMHO King being gangsta isn’t what pushed the Fed’s hand. When they found out he was about to start organizing poor ass white people and convince them to stop working against their self interest, the killed his ass. Like in X-Men, the Malcoms vs. the Martins.

    @Mo:

Training Day was dope to me because the character was dope. Charismatically devious. Affable one second, Scary as shit the next. He shoulda got a Oscar for Malcolm X instead, but whatchugonnado?

The Frank Lucas character he played wasnt any of those things. THAT, along with the glorifying tone of the film, is why Denzel shoulda known better.

Ayo, I’m not denying that Training Day was a good movie. Shit was poppin… but out of all the pieces Denzel did, that’s the movie they wanted to award him for? I’m just saying…

    Good point Maxine.
