Best. Television. Program. EVAR!

roosevelt franklin

The Children’s Television Workshop which produced Sesame Street and the Electric Company was so progressive as a vehicle for creating television programming that was both educational and entertaining. They weren’t afraid to feature African American entertainers as real people and not as the characters they may have portrayed in other media.

These entertainers helped show that learning your fundamentals begins with learning to have fun.

You don’t think they were progressive? Who other than Saturday Night Live would feature RICHARD PRYOR?

The great LENA HORNE also spent some time on Sesame Street.

PATTI LaBELLE took us all to church.

This was too church not to post. STEVIE WONDER is the G.O.A.T.

Did Patti sing the alphabet or what?

Sesame Street (and the Electric Company) were staples in my house growing up and they are staples for my kids now. Learning is fun on Sesame Street and yes, I loved Roosevelt Franklin.

  2. finally listened to that Lil Wang album, if only to follow along all the internets commentary.

    Unwiped ass 1.0/5

skip that frisbee & instead spin Scarface 2002 The Fix, an actual quality Southern gangsta rap album, which Wang tries & fails to achieve with his weed plate.

Lil Wang “Best rapper alive” is the Hillary Clinton “I won the popular vote v Obama” of this cRap shyt. In the US if 1 repeat an obvious lie repeatedly, often moron stans will believe it, & do their bidding by parroting said lie incessantly.

saw the post title and said to myself ‘if he’s not thinking The Wire,’ Dallas is dead wrong.’ then i saw Sesame Street and, well, i might just have to defer (just barely, tho, just barely)

Don’t forget Smokey Robinson singin “You Really Got a Hold On Me”, while in the clutches of a very touchy letter U.

Dallas, I only wish that there were more quality television programs like Sesame Street for young children today. People allow their kids to watch all kinds of crap (on cable) and some times with little to no SUPERvision and understanding in place.

I watched Big Bird and company with my mom. HOw could you not like and appreciate the language of numbers when you have the Count for a friend.

I never really paid attention or remembered the celebrities. I remember Spiderman on Electric Company. The only real celebrity I remembered back then was my pops (shout out), who taught me how to ride a bicycle, oh yeah and Michael Jackson. http://youtube.com/watch?v=mGx8Q6-wXcE

And let’s not forget the angel Maria.

  6. Vee says:

Why is Pryor high on Sesame Street? Why?!?
Hands down one of the G.O.A.T.S of all time.
I’m definitely waiting for his biopic.
