Zo And Tigallo Be On They 80’s Ish…

stoney

I am loving the Zo and Tigallo album as much as I rocked that Kirb and Chris joint ‘Niggaz & White Girlz‘. With all the 1980’s retro movements hitting their zenith it was time for brothers to admit their devotion to overly synthesized music.

2DopeBoyz has made sure that I get my Stoney Jackson right by providing the kid with the preview copy of Zo & Tigallo ‘Love The 80’s‘. At first I thought this was a heelarious side project from the rap group Lil’ Brother’s Phonte, but after listening to the album (several times) I realize how dead serious these dudes are. They are really singing, and really playing instruments. I fucks with this album a lot.

Today, I slayed that joint, “I’m only human”. tomorrow, I’m pickin’ up the pace with “Take on Me”.

    Dirty Jerz,
I was singing that Toto shit several weeks ago coming home twisted from an obama. After hearing the Tigallo jawnt I decided to up the footage.

Don’t let me have to go in on any Michael McDonald Joe Jackson Christopher Cross ‘Yacht Rock’ classics.

Hall and Oates is the GOATS. Them niggas hits is my joints.

Plus, fools be sleepin’ on Toto’s Rosanna

Funny how I found this album too. My homey El Gringo Colombiano stans out for Black Thought and Phonte and I have been pretty lukewarm on LB and associated projects.

I listened to the Gordon Gartrelle podcast that Phonte does and I laughed my ass off. So I said let me see what this nigga is doing. Now I’m a fan too. Not as much as EGC, but if I go to an LB show and this fools rawks it then I will go all in [ll].

  8. DirtyJerz says:

I can’t front, Little Brother always been them dudes thats KINDA nice to me, but every LB CD that i’ve bought, although their joints were so-so, that n*gga Phonte always came with some real slick sh*t.
The crazy part about this CD is, that you really do think these dudes is just clownin’, and I’m with that, me being from that MTV golden era, when all they had was 5 videos, and they wouldn’t THINK of playin’ this ninja nonsense of today. Its refreshing to see some cats even recognize those joints. You think they’re clownin’ up until the closing of the songs, this n*gga vamps out and starts really singin’!
Yall besta cop that CD, with only 2500 copies out there and half of them sold already, this is a definite classic.
On your recomenation, I’m listening to the Gordon Gartrelle podcast as I type this…this dude has to go to XM. c’mon, B! the Top 10 Golden Brown Mocha Colored Women of All Time(Cafe Au Lait edition)!?!?I ask you, what could possibly f*ck with that?.

  9. Tony says:

    NICE, JUST FUCKING NICE!!!

I like the quick hit videos also, it’s amazing what they play in terms of Muzak nowadays.

    Keep up the good work!!!

Dirty Jerz, after hearing that exact podcast you are talking about I put a post in the queue for Jayne Kennedy’s birthday. She and Vanessa Williams are that crack to me.

    I’m talking asscrack ninja!

  11. DirtyJerz says:

Jayne Kennedy was that broad…but his number one pic is official. Pam Grier’s sweet po ta-ta’s were the first I’ve seen on the big screen, and for that, she will always, and forever, stay winning.

  12. DirtyJerz says:

….and should anyone posess the infamous Jayne Kennedy betamax-smashdown, get at me!

  13. the_dallas says:

You should already know about Pam Grier

  14. Vee says:

THis post made my Sunday morning! I’m about to purchase the download.

  15. Pam Grier was still sexy & smashworthy in that 90s Tarantino movie.

  16. @Dallas: I loved that joint. Could have used a little less auto-tune. (I hate that shit) Phonte is a dope MC and an ever doper comedic genius. Have you ever heard the “Story of U.S.?” That shit is hilarious. He does dead on impressions of DMX, Wu-Tang (all of them) and a bunch of other rappers. Good shit. If you don’t have it, I’ll add it to your belated bornday package [II].

  17. fw – fans of Phonte humor, check out this Atari informecial song parody, where Phonte is Fake RZA of Wu-Tang
