Brooklyn Gets Blitzed!

Blitz Ambassador was a revelation for a lot of folks at the Prospect Park bandshell this past Saturday. Along with his backing band, the Embassy Ensemble, Blitz the Ambassador reminded us why we love this Hip-Hop artform so much.

Blitz doesn’t just possess supreme mic skills, but he has the timing necessary to be one of the great emcees of all time. Get familiar with Blitz the Ambassador. He’s got next.

Wow – I thought that was Thought at first. Dude has lifted BT’s swagger up with a fingerprinting kit.

That band looks like The ROOTS from Dimension Zero.

    Like dudes’ flow a lot!

Dylan sez: This shit is hot fire!

  3. My bad on skipping Blitz the Ambassador thinking ah, fucking openers… Definitely gonna check him out on the future. The only Ghanaian joint I know of in BK is May-Tex down on Flatbush, any ya’ll have others? There’s INSANE great Nigerian in East New York on Hendrix off of Atlantic.

Anyway, I got there too late to get close but I will say it was depressing- if expected– to see what videos got the biggest reactions during Ralph McDaniel’s segment. Let’s just say much as I do NOT care for the majority of his music, Jay is by far the people’s champ, even more than Biggie or ODB, just because he’s had longevity. Motherfuck Blueprint 1-2-2.1-3 etc ad nauseum anyway. How about “In My Lifetime IV” next?

I thought Kane was hot, practically an homage to James Brown with that band but how could it be otherwise? The length of the set was slightly fucked up, however: seems like Kane was pacing it out– “I’m gonna take my time on this one”– then two songs later, “This is the last one.” I know that’s not his fault but it seemed a rushed ending.

Blitz had a great set. Jay-Z was purportedly in Brooklyn with Oprah Winfrey. Too bad his triumphant return to the ‘hood didn’t include a stop by Prospect Park.

Come back to DP.com today during lunchtime and peep the video clip I put together from his set.

Brower Park on Wednesday if def a go. Word to Rum(ble).

    Hail Meg!

Word, i heard a couple tracks from this dude back in 07 or so and was wondering what happened to dude. Obviously, I just wasn’t checking hard enough. Definitely gonna be putting that mixtape into the rotation immediately.
