And The Winner Is…

I would never have believed that the SlaughterHouse debut would tally up to less than the Rick Ro$$ ‘Deeper Than Rap’ CD or even the Asher Roth debut, but that goes to show me that the value of being an internets celebrity is so low that you need to have two(2) or more jobs in order for you to keep your bills up to date (and mine are not).

I hope the band continues to make music together because their energy and skillset are things that rap music needs desperately. Truth be told if energy and skills sold…

Bigg ups to Mel and Doug from Flud watches.

Back to our regular programming tomorrow.

I know i guessed waaaay higher. That Fab album been sellin tho

  2. Tony Grands says:

    No consolation prize, dp?

I had high hopes, but it just goes to show that hip hop is officially a business venture. Art, culture, expression, talent have nothing to do with The Machine. Without it, you might as well sell tapes out of the trunk, like Too $hort did. I guess Budden wasn’t a big enough gimmick to push them over the edge…

Now riddle me this, Professor? Will they make another album?

  3. Combat Jack says:

Damn, I was close. I really wanted that watch.
And that Fab album has been on rotation for 3 weeks now. One of the best albums of ’09. In a good way.

  4. the_dallas says:

I listened to the Fab album all the way through and after the last track went off a knife came from out of the CD player trying to cut my dick off.

I’m disappointed that the Fab album ain’t nothing more than some R & B songs with a few rhymes verses inside of them.

  5. Thomas says:

Despite Joey and his antics…good album. The album went plat on file sharing sites tho.

  6. DirtyJerz says:

I bought the Slaughterhouse cd, and I was definitely impressed. OBCL2 is the next to cop, but unless Rae shrink wraps a 4gb flash drive in the shape of a purple tape onto his new cd, he’ll do even lower numbers than SH.

  7. Sackman (ll) Street Posse says:

I’m scared to even listen to the Fab, from the fucking idiotic title onwards. How far down the food chain of “gangster” movies are clowns going to go in looking for “inspiration”? I assume Netflix isn’t “real” enough or else we’d at least see a wider range of references. Mos Def at least had the heart to give props to the “Killer of Sheep,” which has depths no scary “American Gangster” (any of them) ball licker can even imagine.

It’s too bad, because Fab is talented enough to do interesting work but he’s got to rise above the least common denominator of an imagined audience that simply ain’t there anymore. Cam’Ron has the right idea of not giving a fuck and being very very WEIRD and funny, although I wish the production on “Crime Pays” was a little bigger.

    >>>>> lyricism + beats than Slaughterhouse too: “Can’t Stop The Prophet”–

A very unfair comparison, sure, but that’s why some older heads who sat this one out.

The internets are all about that FREE99. The internets been talking about this CD for months and then they don’t show up, fucking shame. The Slaughter House Cd is on point, straight lyrics. The track Microphone is just sick along with about six other tracks. I don’t know why people complain about hiphop being dead; some real shit comes out and only 22,000 support it. Come on man, that’s that BULLSHIT. It may be to late to stop the wave DP, bullshit sells and real shit sits on the shelf. I’m out!!

    ^^^^^^^^^^

    *jumps out the window*

If they paint hip hop i bet her face be in my zipper

  11. Lion XL says:

This is why NAS made Hip Hop is dead……

This was the best Group/posse/collab album we have seen in years. Lyrics, beats, concepts, this all album touched on all bases and should fall under the classic umbrella, and yet it couldn’t sell…..Fuck the MACHINE.

Fuck Indie labels. More Artists should follow the Roots/Graetful Dead business model and reach out and touch the people. I would rather send $30 directly to an artist for decent album than I would spend $10 at best Buy for same album. they may not get the radio, or see the same numbers as Major label or so-called indie label release, but I think they will eat just as well, and will damn sure be more respected for it, at least from true fans.

I hope this whole Roc Nation thing goes as planned (seriously doubt it!) and proves that the new business model should be tours/shows/events and free digital music. The only people to lose would be the labels, as they relay on CD/radio spins for their income. Shit, most artists make more money off tours/events/birthday parties(!) than they do from record sales.

  12. Lion XL says:

PS…Whats good Polotron, Dallas?? Hail Meg….

  13. Polotron says:

    Hail Meg family!

Still holding out hopes SH does the tortoise thing to the finish line and picks up some steam along the way. I maintain that the effort is very solid. And if nothing else has been proven previously, you can eat in a house made of bricks for years to come. Fanbasehead style.

*What’s does Doug and team want for those watches anyway? Sigh…

Next up: KRS/Buckshot. Death to these Robots already…

I like Fab (Breevort, what’s good?), but have no use for that album.

D, you should know one of those podcasts (before last?) lit ales at the stinky pocket session. You caught 2 gunshots (reeeeewind!) for “black guy stuff” among others. Therapy, my friend. Therapy. Even Ye’s track was excused…

  14. ADB says:

The Fab album is teh wackness. He’s fallen all the way off.
