For Bally There Is No Competition…

bally

When I was a teenager there was nothing that symbolized dopeboy swag more than a pair of Bally shoes. This is why I felt so official when I copped my first and only pair of Bally sneakers from the Fulton Street mall. Before Nike was charging fools a yard for the Air Jordan I was paying a buck for Bally tennis shoes.

The Competition is still the GOAT tennis shoe in my mind. I can’t even find a pair of them on the web to show y’all how dope they were. I did come up on this image of the classic Bally slip-on walker. These is the joints that if you stepped on his foot at the Rooftop roller rink MC Ricky D would shoot you about.

For those of you keeping score at home…

Bally >>> British Walkers >>> Clark Wallabees

That is some super OG real talk. Ask Mandela.

Sir Dallas Penn , With all do respect I have to honorably disagree: Wally’s rule the nation for this generation! 2pac : “out here in cali we wear chucks not bally’s” and another thing..

you can say bally > than Clarks but never the Wallabee ask ghost or mandela jr.

Bally!!! even though I hated them Competitions, the suede Bally boot is the most official “no jeans, no sneakers, no workboots” club shoe…anybody with $50 could cop Wallys, they were everywhere. Bally, however, you had to go to some upscale shoe store with at least a yard to cop, and the suede was definitely on some luxuriousness.

oh, and didn’t 2Pack wear a Versace bustier?

    wallys all day

  8. the_dallas says:

Bally leather was too sublime for most heads to recognize if you ain’t never held them. Wally’s can get you thru the war but Bally’s is the shit you wear to the closing ceremony

  9. cocotaso says:

you might be right dallas, as i’ve never held a bally or britisher up close. wallys are still the closest to my heart. my first non-sneaker/timb purchase

Got me feeling a little self conscious in my Clark Wallabees over here.

Only had one pair of Clark’s but I had two pair of Bally slip ons and a pair of Bally sneakers. I even went as far as to go to the Bally outlet in Secaucus and cop a Bally sweater back in the days, creme colored with tan suede elbow patches. Hot.

  12. the_dallas says:

Wow! I can remember when Secaucus used to HAVE it?

^^^^^^The gucci spot out there was better than the one on 5th(flagship)IMO .^^^^^^^

Love my Wally’s…even though Bally’s was the shit!

Problem is you NEVER wanna get caught up in shit with Bally’s on, and you need to make that quick dash… that soft, luxurious leather will peel back like a banana in a monkeys hand…I know first hand cuz that shit happened to me.

Wally’s on the other hand, are rough enough for the streets, stomp somebody out, brush em off and ya good!
