No real crazy stories from that time. Very weird shit tho’ from all the military and secret service that essentially ran the operations at the site. I kept my shit 180 degrees from all that political shit because the towers meant something totally different to me. Those buildings were family to me.
Have you experienced any health side effects as a result, because the insurance companies have been doing those folks that did a great service to NY, and the country, dirty.
My health side effects are mostly mental. The site was very, very emotional. A lot of dudes weren’t wearing their masks and then dudes were putting in 12hr shifts 7 days a week. Lots of adrenaline and emotion for what was essentially half a year of around the clock operations.
I wore my mask tho’. I never smelled anything like that site in my life. It wasn’t the smell of dead bodies. I could identify that smell. That site smelled like smoldering carpet fibers, cubicle walls, electrical wiring and computer parts. It would burn thru your throat.
I don’t talk about my time down there because it was mostly somber and sad. I’d rather talk about boots, sneakers and comics. Sorry.
