NYC Says Hello To ‘Melo…

Calm down kids…

You can understand in the land of unmitigated hype how the trade that brings Carmelo Anthony to MSG also brings some unchecked expectations. We are really gonna need a center or a bonafide big man on the block grabbing boards. Amar’e Stoudemire fouled out in the fourth quarter with four only rebounds.

If the Knicks were a rebound by committee team like the Riley/Van Gundy era we might be able to really make some noise in the watered down Eastern Conference. Since only Boston and Miami actually believe in themselves these Knicks might could sneak into the divisional round of the tourney, but somebody other than the guards better start grabbing boards.

But for tonight, the atmosphere was off the chain. I found myself lurking around the garden to see if I could catch something for the second half. No dice on a ducat. The Association’s buzz right now is on a trillion. The trade of Deron Williams to the Nets nearly stole the thunder from ‘Melo’s debut.

‘Melo def lived up to the hype by scoring 27 points even if it took him an Iverson-ish 25 attempts. I’ll give him a pass on the poor field goal percentage since he also secured 10 rebounds during his time on the floor. I’m starting to see the vision that Donnie Walsh, the Knicks general manager, was formulating this past summer The Knicks are almost there. All they need is a little Dontrevius on the sideline.

Melo looked aight last night in his NYC re-debut. Billups aint look too bad either. I want NYC to do big things in the East.

word… we need a rebounder and more defensive presents. We gotta bring it back to the old days when any one trying to running in the paint would get bodied (ala Mason, Xman, and Oak).

  3. Ivan says:

The NBA is a better place when the Knicks have a quality squad. Kudos.

    Sincerely,

    Lakers fan.

  4. Dallas, sports really are gay though – glad someone else finally pointed that out.

THe problem is that now the EAST is so fuckin Top heavy the League is out of balance…with the Lakers (slowly) Fading, Dirk n co. ageing and the Spurs doing the same (despite their ridiculous record, they need to run of steam soon, when Ginobliu/Parker are the best player on the team age is an issue) …. the Eastern conference over the next 4 Years is going to be much tougher to get through than the WEST (excluding the Thunder and the chance the Clips actually fulfill their potential….as Gordon & Blake grow, and Bledsoe, Jordan and co continue to develop they could be serious… shame Baron’s gone…. Melo should’ve gone to LA…that would’ve been incredible.
Happy for the Knicks but losing Felton, Gallinari and Chandler truly sucks, shame the move couldn’t been held up till season end… NY would’ve been a contender with more depth than most

on second thoughts fuckit…they get a little Dontrevius in the off-season, they good! LOL

The addition of Billups is really gonna make the move or break the move. Westbrook best PG in the league or Williams arguably. Rose is a fuxin’ beast but Chicago still gonna have hiccups on the way to their ascendancy in the elite

  9. cant wait for next years all star game. east lineup will be a monster.

is dontrevious agent still in talks to join the knicks or nets or has discussion stalled?
