I Like To Live in America!

senor gonzalez

I will dedicate several posts this week to one of the website’s best friends. TONY’s KANSAS CITY has been part of the movement since we were first singled out by the great BYRON CRAWFORD back in August. With all the recent domestic news focusing on immigration, TONY, like most Mexican Americans has felt singled out in his sombrero.

I give TONY credit for using this moment in the media spotlight to bring other issues to the table that focus on how the mega-corporations abuse our economic system with far more disatrous results than anybody in a big silly hat could ever do. Well almost anybody…

el hefe

Cheers to TONY’s KANSAS CITY and any other Mexicans that read this site. Without your hard work and dedication I wouldn’t be able to purchase a 100% cotton tee shirt for $3 bucks.

I’m sorry, I wish I could say something hopeful for someone. But, the facts are these:

    1. Because of illegal immigration jobs that were done by UNION workers for a living wage are being done by illegal aliens which places the UNION worker at a disadvantage. The employer figures he can break the UNION worker and pay him less than what he deserves and now no one is earning a living wage, not even the illegal alien.

    2. It doesn’t matter if the illegal alien is using a pin number to pay income taxes,(and we all know that not all illegal aliens are paying income tax); the illegal alien is still using all human services, including medical “E”room services and food stamps and “W.I.C.” programs, which even after the 7 billion dollars they supposedly put into the tax coffers, still amounts to over 50 billion dollars. So, I’ve written my Senator. I’ve told her the 1st person who promises to fund THE FENCE will be the 1st canidate I vote for, whether it’s her or not. I live on $1151.00 a month, but, I’d still pay an extra $100.00 a month on food if I knew that it was legal workers picking the fruit and vegtables, because then I’d know I that I was paying for a union worker to earn a living wage, and no, I don’t think illegal aliens should be allowed to join our unions. I know, I’ve been ornery here, but, jeeeeeeezzzzzz I’m am sooooooo tired of illegal aliens crying foul. Why don’t they take all the money they are getting and go back to Mexico and form their own political parties and beat the snot out of Presidente Fox and the rest of their elected officials and form unions and win their rights at home and stop hurting other union workers. I know this is going to sound mean, but, I gotta tell ya, I didn’t miss hearing Spanish while I was out shopping, and when I did come home, I didn’t even watch the news broadcasts with the demonstrations of people yelling in Spanish, for 1 whole day I got to listen to English only.

Made me feel like I was in America again!!!

Sorry Patricia but none of those anti-immigrant “facts” mean anything when no one even wants to address outsourcing. So while mexcans take crummy jobs that most of us wouldn’t touch. Jobs that used to pay even more than that are actually sent overseas! These cats don’t even have to risk anything to get into the country the jobs get sent to them. So next time your speaking to a customer sevice rep. from India or Jamaica consider that.

    Amadeo,
You get the bigger picture that Patricia has a difficult time seeing because of her personal feelings. Immigration doesn’t equal Spanish speaking peoples, not by a long shot.

There is such a level of corporate greed that CEO’s are willing to pay for the construction of robots in order to keep from paying humans a living wage.

Who you gonna call when R2-D2 and C-3PO have taken your gigs? That day isn’t as far off as some of us might hope.

Patricia i’m interested to know if the daily african click-clackin and ebonic “nahmeans”, “uknowhatimsayin’s”, “holla’s, or non stop garbage of lil weezy and TI “bangers” that i hear non-stop on a daily basis bother you as much as that of the spanish spoken by migrant workers tryin to earn a buck…also at least from my vantage point in the brick city i see a lot more blacks lining up for welfare and social services than spics

Illegal immigrants/legl immigrants. Tell me Patty, which were the pilgrims when they came to this land and wiped out native Americans?

  7. The Phoenix says:

The immigration issue doesn’t only affect the spanish speaking community – as there are several other cultures of people that are also classified as “immigrants”. I figure I wouldn’t be here if my family hadn’t migrated from China for a better life. People from other countries come here seeking a better way of life for themselves and their children. they seek better education and opportunities that they may not have in their own countries. They contribute to our society and economic system. Maybe more people need to see that movie “A Day Without Mexicans” or whatever its called…Perhaps the government’s proposal isn’t the RIGHT way to go about things, but at least the subject is on the table for consideration of SOME solution.

Thanks Tony for linking that article…that was a great story.

Thank you brother from another mother for bringing this topic to light…

Damn, Dallas thanks for the mention and for the first person in the comments I’m glad to see that years of corruption and hostile Republican administrations are not the cause of the breakdown of Unions . . . It’s the Mexicans.

Anyway, I’m a big fan of this blog and it proves once and for all the American ingenuity and quality faces no threat from cheap Mexican laborers like me.

  9. P says:

Giving Patricia’s in the world a bad name! Geez. I don’t even like how my given name looks atop of all that stuff. (it’s not me, by the way).

    With that said.

It is an emotional issue for all. I understand both sides. I really do. The gov-ment’s problem is that they are reactionary instead of proactionary. Something happens and they get a hair up their ass and they start passing these strict Alcatraz laws. Now I DO believe we should have a government and a military to protect us, but not to the point of tyranny.

For the immigrants (and they are NOT aliens no more than the Katrina victims were refugees), their lives are made better by being in this country. Do I feel that there should be more border controls? Yes, to some extent, but not because of ANYONE’s ethnicity. And I certainly dont think that anyone already here should be criminalized or penalized. This country has the MOST lenient border controls for ANY nation. Boundaries, NOT exclusions should occur. And certainly not for terrorism, because Timothy McVeigh is as whitebred as they come and was the OG terrorist back in the day.

This all boils down to color: Asian, Latino, Middle Eastern, Haitian. You don’t hear people fearing Brits, who are just as illegally here as a hooker selling sex at a PromiseKeepers convention.

I can’t go to France and NOT learn to speak French, but that doesn’t mean my English Language should not be accepted or embraced. Everyone always fusses about the Spanish language. There are French, German, Arab, Asian. Let’s learn to all speak in tongues and work it out!

I DO believe, that, a country could survive being a homogenous society – Some Eastern Continents do that. But I don’t WANT to live that way. NEVER. I love seeing different people all around me.

And what the hell is Patricia talking about? The only people that deserve to be here ARE the Native Americans. We are only here by chance because they pulled an Amistad on us. Furthermore, some of the Native American roots come from Black/Spanish descent. And we have the nerve to put them on reservations.

This is really a tough call to referee.

we are all agreed: patricia is an idiot.
why blame either white folks or Latinos or blacks or anyone when shit like this is the case:
