Carlos Beltran came to the Mets six years ago after playing himself into an All-Star contract in Houston. Beltran wasn’t a perennial All-Star tho. He was more like the Jerome James of baseball. The Mets weren’t just hoodwinked by Bernard Madoff, but also by players like the Carlosses – Beltran and Delgado.
Delgado is long gone from Flushing and now its time for Beltran to pack his bags as well. I just don’t want him to wind up on a contender OR more importantly a team in the Met’s division. Beltran doesn’t deserve that much. If he had been a great Met then maybe I could allow him to go to the Phillies.
If Beltran wants a deal he better accept Kansas City.
Beltran’s a great player, possibly the best centerfielder in beisbol for a good 5 year period from 04-09. Apart from his injuries, the guy was an all-star. It’s not his fault that Omar Minaya was a terrible gm and gave awful contracts to Ollie Perez and banked 40% of the rotation on perez and john maine for 4 straight seasons, not to mention Pedro, who had 2 good years with the Mets and sucked the big one after that.
the jerome james comparison is faulty. you are only basing it off his astros season. you have to factor in what he did in kansas city. james did nothing before his little performance. beltran was a 20 plus 100 plus rbi in many seasons in kc.
Beltran was on the verge of greatness. Now he should go back to KC
