By now you all know that the Roc-A-Wear brand clothing line was sold to a conglomerate for over two hundred million. Now I know in my mind of minds that JAY-Z never “owned” the brand, but I am sure that he caught some coin from that sale and stands to reap some more Benjy’s and benefits depending on how long the brand remains viable.
That shit always looked like clown shoes to me and the brand never had the depth of design that Phat Farm had. All they have are hoodies and sweatpants. At least Phat Farm and Sean John expanded their lines with adult items like sweaters and button-up shirts. Everything that I found in Roc-A-Wear that was my size made me feel retarded. Akademics and Ecko are smarter and better designed urban brands, but Roc-A-Wear has one thing none of them can have – the MICHAEL JORDAN of rap recording.

Right now I support Obama….. I’m waiting for Obama to reveal a detailed plan of his foriegn and domestic policies but lets be honest Obama will not be elected president in the current racial climate in america. We need Obama to raise the real issues that effect us all. The rapidly Shrinking middle class, The high cost of health insurance, Poverty,job creation….. If Obama raises social issues and becomes more of a threat other candidates will have to address those issues and we then have to hold our elected officials accountable with vigor.

Since that time the Roc application has been revised and the russian that was listed as owner has been replaced with the name Rocawear Apparel Group.

Twerk…I work in the fashion industry(not a designer, IT), so believe me that most of the people who you think OWN these labels, don’t. Most of these companies hold a main line, and then license the BRANDING out to other manufacturers. So not all RL are produced by RL and not all Calvin Klein is made by CK. Matter of fact a few years ago the company I worked for got sued up the wazzoo because they started selling to Sam’s Club and the like.
Also alot of these labels are owned by holding companies that provide capital, merchandising and distribution (almost like the music ind.) like LMVH (L0uis Vutton Moet Hennessey) used own Tommy Hilfiger.
I hate Roc-a-wear and I dont usually rock a brand with all kinds of advertisement that shit looks tacky, even though I rock Polo and Lacoste on the reg…………Sean Jean made a sleek pair of kicks though they came in white,brown and black they were like premiums leather with some suede mid tops wow them shits were dope, never copped a pair may check final-score.com …………….Juniors I have never been to New York unless you can lay-overs when I was hitting up Puerto Rico on a Jet Blue flight…….. you know layovers in New York are part of the biz as it is considered Rican capital of the US……..Cheesecake cheesecake cheesecake…….
