An Englishman In New York…

ty 125th street

As soon as TY touched down in NYC he mae sure to holla at the kid. TY knows I live on the streets and if he wanted to get a deal on some fly gear I would be the one who knew where it was popping off.

I met up with TY on 125th Street in the new Harlem. He told me he was looking for some jeans. I brought him to the Marshall’s on the corner of Lenox. TY fucks with LRG, Akademiks and RocaWear, all of which Marshall’s carries in abundance. I wasn’t feeling Marshall’s price points however. $30US for jeans? Since TY is from London that is actually a great price, but from my point of view it was too much. I decided for us to hit up a spot in the Bronx I knew where he could get more for his quid (Brit money slang).

A.J. Wright on the Grand Concourse and Fordham Road is the shit for affordable clothing and whatever. If you have one in your area I suggest you consume from them before you consider any other store. RocaWear jeans for $20US which is the equivalent of 10 British pounds. Needless to say, TY racked up. Since we were on Fordham Road I thought we should fall through my favorite sneaker spot, Dr. Jays, to see if any new Dunks or Air Max were released.

Dr. Jays is one of the top stores in NYC to copp sneakers from since they have all the general release shoes on their shelves as well as the special ‘urban footwear’ account they have with NIKE. It just so happens that Dr. Jays was having a table sale that day and they had a grip of sneakers for $20US. Do I need to remind you that is the same as 10 lbs. British money and that is quite a deal. Just ask Dan Love From Da’ Bricks. He pays quite a lot for his Air Max.

Once again TY racked up. The NIKE Untold Truth Josh Gibson Dunks, and the Nike Vandal Highs in brown each for only $20US a pair. FYI, I copped both pairs of Dunk Lows and I sent the pair with the rasta laces to my cuzzo in Atlanta. I couldn’t let them joints go for twenty cent. Neither could TY, due to the fact he is a big fan of Dunks and he even designed a pair as a special NIKE iD charity promotion in the U.K. along with several other musicians.

TY was on his way to D.C. the following morning for a show and you know homeboy was going to go dipped out. I was happy that I helped him get hos swagger correct and affordable. If you are going to be in NYC and you want to make a run for some kicks or some wears then you need to get at me. Sneaker Fiends Unite! NYC tours will be in full effect this summer.

At those prices, I’m not surprised you haven’t hit me up on a little overseas shipment Dallas. I recently slipped off my Air Max jacket and got busy with a pair of Court Victory Pumps. Nice to change up, but sure as hell didn’t cost me $20…

Stay poised to pencil me in for a little NYC-based sneaker tour: I’m hoping to make it out your way come August. Chea!

Ty is a beast, one of my favorite (or favourite) all time emcees from the UK. If you haven’t heard his old material or at least Upwards then you suck at life. What up, Dan Love?
