Everybody Hates Chris…

Memo to TINA DAVIS: Lose the puppy, replace with a kitten…

Who will be the evil villain for Women’s History Month? I guess the general consensus is that CHRIS BROWN will be the 2009 bad boy(no P.Twitty). Even OPRAH and ELLEN DeGENRES have trained their mighty media guns on BROWN.

The question I have now though is what discussion do we have to fix this problem? Yes. CHRIS BROWN is bad. Yes. CHRIS BROWN is evil. But domestic violence didn’t begin with CHRIS BROWN and if all we do is look at that dude then domestic violence doesn’t end with CHRIS BROWN either.

I believe in something I call the ‘Single Smack’ rule and this applies to both men and women. There are times when everyone deserves a single smack. Maybe their wires are just crossed that day or they simply need that pop to return their focus. Remember how you used to have to smack your television onetime to make the picture clearer? This is the premise behind the ‘Single Smack’ rule. The idea is that if you have to smack anything more than once it is prA’li broken and that applies to home electronics and especially relationships.

Lord knows that C.S. has wanted to smack me once or thrice in the years that we have dated and I certainly have wanted to introduce her to my five fingered friend on at least one occasion. That we haven’t smacked each other yet I believe has to do with the fact that neither of us is too serious about our personal feelings. Meaning, we let shit slide off of us for the most part. I know I do. My life is too short to be hitting broads just because they don’t listen to all the dumb shit I have to say. But the ‘Single Smack’ rule stays in effect.

I think someone needs to introduce CHRIS BROWN and RIHANNA to the ‘Single Smack’ rule. I’m sure they will find themselves in this situation again because most of us know that the text CHRIS BROWN received was from the other dude and not the other chick. I don’t think he will break that habit off too soon since its what put him in the spotlight in the first place. Will the ‘Single Smack’ rule save CHRIS and RIHANNA from being tabloid fodder in the future? Yes is the answer to that. No one has ever called the police after getting a single smack.

Listen to Ghostface Killah tell it…

Glad you finally weighed in on this…no pun intended. (here them 9’s att?)

Eff CB AND ROBIN for both their parental units absconding on their responsibility and letting the camera and public raise their kids…We knew that Som Pon tha’ Forehead was an accident waiting for a place to happen since the Camel Jockey “discovered” her…and CB aint NEVAH had a momma that woulda known about the 4 finger thumb tuck…

Word! I had to pull my shit out this morning for “one” that thought he was ” one of them” for a minute… after the dust settled…everything was status quo.

Well put. Its true we all need checkin’ every so often. As long as its not abusive. (Then again I’ve never hit a woman… )

I think one of the biggest fuckeries to come out of this is the resurgence of Robin Givens and Denise Brown (OJ’s attention whore sister-in-law). Seriously why do these harpies need a voice in this. I’m not saying CB was right in clappin’ on Ri-Ri, but lets not crucify the man. Its not like he has 14 artificially created kids and no job… He didn’t steal $65B…. He didn’t shoot up three towns in Alabammy… I could go on here.

No man should have to hit a woman. Does that mean there are women that won’t bring you to the verge, cross the line and beg for a beatdown? Absolutely not. Hell, call me and I’ll jump those tricks for ya.

Pon de Forehead definitely has to ask herself what part she plays in the abusive cycle and why she can’t let go of someone willing to smash her head into a car window whenever he feels like it. That’s the tragedy right there. Beauty does not always equal self esteem.

“someone willing to smash her head into a car window whenever he feels like it”

So you are saying that this event that went public has happened before?

What people aren’t recognizing is that both people were hurt by this incident. Because Rihanna shows the outer bruises shouldn’t make you negate Chris Brown’s pain.

Off-topic, but did any of y’all hear about this? I can’t believe shit like this is still going on.

Number one son and I were still having issues over this same topic. Gotta know when to fold em and walk away.

Dallas….when she got to the police station, she told them that Chris has laid hands on her before. It seems like they have both played a role in this situation. There were reports that she beat him with her shoe. Volience begets violence.

    DP,

Sometimes you remind of a brilliant Civil Rights leader.

They be good on race, fucked up on gender.

I am going to assume that you mean to be funny
the truth of the matter is that:
a.) If someone hits you one they will hit you two, three, four and five times.
b.) Black women are disproportionally murdered by their intimate partners.

Imma still pray for you, and sign you up for my Hip Hop and Gender Roles workshop.

im not a big believer in absolutes. Therefore i dont believe these things to be TRUISMS

If a man hits you once, he will do it again.

Women have no options in cases of domestic abuse.

I call bullshit on both of those. While they may, sadly, often be the case, that doesnt make them hard and fast rules. (case in point, i may eb latino, but i cant salsa for shit)

Let’s not pretend that some unfortunately messed up ladies see this type of fucked up violent shit as “affection”, just like some people see heroin as a friend and booze as medicine. Some people you just cant save, and i think coddling all (american) women as fragile little porcelain dolls who don’t have options or ways out is a discredit to women and an affront to feminism.

Im not trying to minimize the fuckedupedness of domestic violence in anyway. Its a scourge, to be sure (moreso in countries where womens rights are nil). But oppression cant end if one is constantly being made out to be nothing but a victim.

And in my own fam, i HAVE seen a dude get violent with his lady, once and only once. She put a stop to that shit right then and there. Not with violence, but by putting her foot down telling holmes whats what. 15 years later, through thick and thin? Still together

We’ve all had shit days and done things we’ve regretted. Raising your hands to strike a woman is fucked up, no doubt, but immediately villifying every dude guilty of it and deifying evry woman who’s victim to it isnt doing ANYBODY any favors

    M.Dot,
I don’t have any gender issues. If you want equal pay then you better be prepared to get duffed out sometimes and catch a few black eyes for the cause.

I don’t like the idea of treating someone a certain kind of way because they are a woman or because they are Black or because they are ghey. Those are the barriers that maintain seperatism.

If Rihanna has had her ass kicked previously by this fag creep and she still rides for him then I think the rest of us need to STFU and STFD. If she ends up in some Star 80 Dorothy Stratten shit I will be the first in line to see that shit at the iMax.

(you do know that Rihanna’s forehead can only be shown on an iMax screen?)

I caught the Watchmen IMAX pon de forehead last weekend.

I really don’t feel as if the issue has anything to do with domestic violence. The problem is with the public’s celebrity sensationalism. There’s too much of an emphasis on celebrities being the “example” when they’re the minority.

If our lives were The Truman Show domestic violence would be the least of the issues. We all know that shit happens and this doesn’t condone nor disapprove. It just states the obvious. These are kids and yet we hold their responsibility to a higher regard because they’re famous. That’s ass backwards.

Let them live their lives no matter how disfunctional it may appear. We’re ready to burn the kids at the stake as if we don’t have women beaters, thieves, killers, and crack heads in our families. The problem’s much bigger than these two kids. Surely it is.

I never liked CB, I always thought he was an arrogant lil’ prick since I seen him on MTV’s barbershop. If you hit a chick you never win especially in the publics eye. I cannot stand all of this women’s lib’ shit and CB bashing though. Jigga’s putting the hit out on him too, get the fuck outta here! There young and emotional, aren’t/weren’t we all?
