Pre-menstrual Promotional Sales…

Researchers have determined that women are vulnerable to fits of impulse shopping when their Aunt Rose is coming ot town.

I wonder what causes men to over-consume?

I think in both cases it is the result of the buffeting of messages regarding consumption that our minds receive. Constant, non-stop, round the clock provocations to consume despite the cost are what fills our brains.

I haven’t seen the above movie yet, but I did read the book and I found it totally enjoyable. The main character has to examine herself and defend her consumption at every turn. All she manages to do is go deeper into debt.

If we weren’t in a debt so large would we be able to consider ourselves so rich?

Errryone’s been living off fake money for a long time. Credit card companies invented more available cash than anything Barry’s co-signed on so far.

That’s the tsunami that everyone doesn’t notice coming from the left when we’re throwing more life preservers at drowning companies.

Watch out 2009, not only are people’s balances going to cause the next financial crisis, but their credit lines are being slashed at the same time.

Aunt Rose?? I prefer the name Aunt Flo, personally. And I’m surprised you read and enjoyed the book, DP. I generally avoid books with pink covers and the words “Confessions of” in the title, but maybe I’ll rent it from the library.

I have to admit, I got down with Sophie Kinsella, 7 years ago when I first moved to whitelandia and discovered “The Shopaholic”. I got nothing but love for her, and if you doubt it, check out the sister making 100k on Diane Sawyer, spending it ALL on clothes and stuff…damn, shame…

Movie sucks – too many improbabilities to keep it real. I haven’t read the book though.
