If anyone would be swimming with the lions it would be OKayPlayer. It’s not enough to bring in talented people from all across America to close out the festivities at the 2009 College Music Journal, OKayPlayer is putting together a showcase with the best talent from across the globe. Specifically Africa.
From the DuckDown showcase up to this OKayAfrica concert you will experience all the myriad elements of Hip-Hop. Bajah and the Dry Eye Crew along with Blitz the Ambassador is the best way to close down the festival. Live music and positive vibes from the new Knitting Factory space in Williamsburg Brooklyn.
If you haven’t seen Blitz the Ambassador yet you haven’t seen what the spirit of live instrumentation and horns does within Hip-Hop. Blitz along with the Embassy Ensemble are like listening to James Brown and Fela Kuti put their bands behind an emcee. I fux with this dude’s show. Bajah + The Dry Eye Crew are OKayPlayer favorites that keep the party bouncing. Speaking of Fela Kuti, there will also be an afrobeat dance party after the concert. This event will officially shut down the CMJ.
