Okay, I’m Reloaded…

Piecebook: Reloaded continues it’s all-city bombing tour. Tonight the event is gonna be freshly independent as in the IND line. Take the B or the Q train to the Church Ave station and walk up Church two blocks east to Ocean Avenue.

WEALTHY HOSTAGE
1924 Church Avenue

Wealthy Hostage is the host from 6pm to 9pm featuring graff artist KEO signing Piecebooks and putting together a small in-store exhibit. I wonder if my homey RAB CAC will be on hand? RAB used to king hard on the R40 subway cars that were exclusive to the BMT and IND lines back when I was checking for him. How funny do you think it was that when I first went to high school as a freshman at Brooklyn Technical RAB was in his senior year?

I don’t want to tell y’all exactly how long ago that was because RAB has mysteriously gotten younger than me (and I’m the Black Peter Pan). If you ain’t doing anything productive tonight and you want to some legendary art and drink some free beer you might should need to be Parkside Flatbush. And say what up to RAB.

*As a side note: In the early 1980’s Mayor Koch heralded the war on graffiti and the sight of top to bottom burners began to disappear memory. Some new city residents who don’t have a recollection of the good ol’ (read: bad) New York City subway system thought it would be a great idea for advertisements to cover to the outside panels of subway cars – top to bottom.

Graffiti was a nuisance and a crime because it wasn’t an advertisement from a sanctioned corporation. Originally it was just poor working class folks yelling out trying to be heard. Now it’s all about cheap trendy clothes.

What’s good D? I’m that dude that wasn’t dancing at the party yesterday…or at the party.

Quick question: does the NSC crew get any shine? Those Greek kids got it in. PE3, Maniac, Krime, Tone, etc….

To WSS, WWIB’s point in a previous drop: Imagine my reaction back then, to find these cats with the Sabbath/Zep/Jethro Tull jackets, were “Nasty Subway Criminals”. The Queens TPA layup might even have been their’s before it became know as such. I wonder if the artist that didn’t exactly come up in the hip-hop culture get overlooked, by those not artists. Point being, maybe Graff should be considered outside of the elements?

Ordering the book now (‘cuz maybe that’s what’s happening?)….

    TRON…D…Whats good?

Like that other dude said to shut shit down ( Cant remember his name, Ill go back and check in a minute…), Graf started on its own, Early on ROCK and FUNK were the hitters, Dondi and his crew were hardcore with it..but that was the late 60’s early 70’s…Rap hadnt even really started yet much less hip hop, but Graf was always street culture. As hip hop started building, the elements came together and thats how we got to where we are now….Hip Hop didnt create any of the elements, they all COALESCED (gimme me props for using this word in a sentence!) into HIP HOP, and thus defined HIP HOP for our generation and those to come…

BTW Im the dude that wasnt at that party and didnt know there was one, but I would like to get some of those pics of me that I wasnt in….peace and nappiness

  8. Polotron says:

This guy said coalesced….Ms. Sciabara would be proud!!
(Stop, look, and listen, we are the mighty…) and he’s back.

It was WSS, for sure. I guess it’s like anything else: For some, graff started w/ Hip Hop…and Hip Hop started w/ Nellie. It’s all reference points.

I like “street culture”. In my mind, that would include anything you do outside of your place of residence, that’s not eating. Unless of course, u’re building a ghetto Big Mac…

Oh right, still the guy not at the party…but I was in da streets, somehwere. There are no pics, just surveillance. Would love to know how to obtain that…
