Who’s Accusing ACORN?

BARACK OBAAMA will forever be associated with the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. If it weren’t for the activated poor people and their middle class mouthpieces along with the labor unions across the country he would never have been elected president. Okay, so we have that established. Moving on…

ACORN has been active here in New York City regarding the development of the Atlantic Yards project. Without their noise and activism that project might have been shoehorned into existence during the fake real estate boom that was going down several years ago. I appreciate the collective ACORN machinery that pushed ideas like ‘living wages’ into the political lexicon. I’m sure there are fractions of ACORN that are corrupt because there is too much power contained in politricks to keep everyone clean and correct.

The latest issue is that ACORN stole the election for OBAAMA by being complicit in voter registration fraud. ACORN is the fall guy in this story just like OBAAMA is the fall guy for the broken U.S. economy. Didn’t we learn during G Dubbz 1 that the electoral college is the group that actually selects the president? The idea that ACORN as a collective was able to mobilize voters is plausible, but the notion that ACORN has ascended into the evil empire of liberalism is farfetched.

The people that ACORN counts as members and volunteers are the working poor. World domination isn’t a priority for these people. Feeding their family is. While we all rail against ACORN and the neo-cons and the Decepticons we are fast approaching a decade of war being waged in Afghanistan with no end in sight. This has been the issue that we are not debating. American troops have to leave the region. No matter which president is sitting in the White House we keep sending more men and women into the desert for the devil knows what. I’d like to hear what SEAN HANNITY and LOU DOBBS have to say about that…

“Those who profess to favor freedom and yet deprecate agitation are men who want crops without plowing the ground. They want rain without thunder and lightning. They want the ocean without the roar of its mighty waters. The struggle may be a moral one, or it may be a physical one, or it may be both moral and physical, but it must be a struggle. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never has and it never will.”
Frederick Douglass in a speech in Rochester, NY

  1. Amadeo says:

    Republicans are funny.

  2. First and repeatedly: FUCK OBAMASTAN, and fuck Obama stans who are looking away or mumbling uh, sorry– I dunno what son is thinking. Myself, I think our victory in the War on Drugs is right around the corner too.

    One slight twist: ACORN in BK was famously pro-Bruce Ratner, photo of Bertha Lewis kissing the man, in fact, because somebody felt– rightly or wrongly– they’d force

    * “affordable housing” and
    * other “community benefits”

    into the project if some, you know, black folks besides goddamn Vince Carter and my man on hard times, Bernard King (whom they quickly dropped after alleged domestic abuse charge) were behind it. Minority report “owner” Jay-Z wasn’t yet in the picture.

    Anyway, ACORNS tactics here were, to be blunt, either

    * VERY FUCKING NAIVE (see “fake real estate boom”) or…
    * very fucking corrupt

    Personally, I think it was both in such a way that, to this day, some people still believe it was “a good idea,” i.e. we get THESE promises (which are worthless, natch) if we go along…

    And we get dick– specifically Mike Bloomberg– if we resist.

    Of course, ACORN might actually have gotten ** some ** form of affordable housing, or a park, or a fancy library or whatever other bullshit fantasy was bundled in there instead of the 100% of NOTHING they’ll see now even if the arena is built.

    What price reputation, Bertha?

    As for ACORN and Obama, I’ve not followed it and ride with DP’s verdict. I have known more than a few social work types and by and large, those people on the streets are not capable of any large scale deception, ethically or practically.

    At the top?

    I don’t trust them any more than I did Bush or Bill Clinton– not to much these things up further but let’s recall the outrageous Marc Rich pardon for a clear picture of how that White House played things (or got played).

  3. p/s: good piece on Afghanistan in today’s UK Guardian–

    It is easy to forget that the nine-year war in Afghanistan began its life as “Operation Enduring Freedom”. In the discursive vacuum that followed 9/11, such trivialised and overblown rhetoric was commonplace – as were notions that security and democracy in Afghanistan and the Middle East could be achieved through US-led invasion and occupation.

    ENDURING. FREEDOM.

    !!

  4. 40 says:

    Best Obama pic since the one drinking a pint of Old Gold.

    I’ll leave the followup to Willis and I’ll just read and do the knowledge.

  5. Tony Grands says:

    Co-sign 40, all the way!

    But I will say the electoral college is a joke, & the “people’s voice” is a fairy tale.

  6. Tony Grands says:

    & let me add that I’m the only person I trust, & until I’m elected Imperial Ruler of the Living Universe, I’ll never be satisfied by anyone ele’s “dictatorship”. Or, until Jesus comes back, but that’s another issue entirely.
