U shoulda had on the flyer: Buy, Sell, Trade, VICK Vintage Polo
Ralph Jr.,
Whas ‘VICK’?
You wanted to say ‘VIC’ which was short for victimize but you ain’t got the slang right
season of the vic
The ‘K” is due to the evolution of the slang in my daily Lexicon. Is there a teaching certification pertaining to late 80’s/early 90’s slang?
It’s right here on DallasPenn.com
It’s also okay to say that you didn’t know something. Each one, teach one here at DP.com
this slang was oral……….never written…unless in graffiti…
so there’s no right or wrong way to spell any of this stuff……
Only 2 cases of the word being written out……..in rap lyrics written in the studio during that era….and in letters either sent TO jail or FROM jail during that era…. in which case, 50% of the OTHER words on the page of those letters were spelled incorrectly.
There is a way to write slang properly. Just saying that it only has oral tradition is false. Reading graff is how many disenfranchised kids learn to spell.
Jail letters always have hell’a typos. Sheeeeeid, my blog posts have hell’a typos.
yo d get at me my con. me x 2!!!
Has Ralph Lauren added their stamp of sanctioning by offering to send a rep to this function? Or, is this strictly a street affair?
True story is that the brand’s acknowledgment was never a requisite to living the lifestyle.
It’s bigger than corporate

It’s bigger than corporate.
true indeed, but imagine if ralphie showed up in the spot. or lent yall the lo mansion
lol this flyer is crazy.
Dals,
did you really write that reading graffiti is how many kids from bad situations learn how to read?
really?
I learned from electric company and sesame street on channel 13
Get,
Was Ch13 your teacher or did it supplement what you learned in school? I wouldn’t be surprised if you answered the former since reading comprehension isn’t your strongest suit. No shots brother because I appreciate your candid dialogue here at DP.com
Don’t discount graff’s viral ability to help people learn to read, especially phoenetic words and sounds.
Dals,
channel 13….electr., sesame street, zoom and that spanish language program were the first programs I remember watching on tv..even before pre school..
magic garden too, now that I think of it…mr. rogers..and all that…
no shots…don’t worry….depending on the time I read the blog, the browser I’m using, etc…I might have images turned on or off…so I don’t get the full picture of the post until I see the images….until then I just respond to the written entry and the comments…
Never liked graffiti…..until I got older and met real artists….people from NWK know about the famous “Vailsburg” mural that used to be up at boylan rec. on south orange avenue…that was done by Prince..THAT was a talented brother…before then 99% of the stuff I saw was just garbage tags…on some “Spit” from BEAT STREET shit…no subways or trains out here like that
get did you say ‘magic garden’???
