Our good friend, and erstwhile sneaker culture curmudgeon, ERNIE PANICCIOLI will be hosting a radio show on PWRN (People’s World Radio Network). One of his first shows will feature SAM GREENLEE as a guest. Aside from writing ‘The Spook Who Sat By The Door’ GREENLEE has an extensive resume. It should be a great show.
In other news, JEFFERY STERLING, a former CIA official was arrested last week and charged with leaking sensitive information to a NYTimes reporter back in 2002. The documents described CIA involvement with Iran and the weapons programme being developed in that country. This disclosure set off major alarms in the Bush White House and Condoleeza Rice had to make a call to the NYTimes to have the story killed.
STERLING was another spook who sat by the door and he is lucky that he hasn’t been killed yet. They’ll get him soon enough tho’.
Wow… Looking forward to that Ernie. “Spook” had an impact on my like no other piece of film I’ve ever seen before, and I saw it in my 30’s a very less than impressionable age. I wound up reading the book after seeing the movie, but I remember giving copies of the flick out during the holidays like Target Gift Cards.
I never read the book, but I did see the movie. I enjoyed it because it showed knowledge is the true ruler. If you understand the system, it’s easier to maneuver within it. I’d like to get my hands on a copy of the book, because I can guarantee the movie probably left out important pieces.
Anyone who wants a copy of the film in DVD format or the book or both (SIGNED) reach out to Sam Greenlee on Facebook. LIke most folks who dedicate their lives to freedom and justice and knowledge trust me he is not living high on the hog and every book or DVD he sells helps him eat and pay rent. We have a bad habit of not supporting our heroes and then heaping praise on them when they pass over. Thanks to Dallas for giving us this shout out. Ernie
PS one of the “Supposed Blacker” hosts of MTV (name withheld to protect the guilty) kind of gave me a half grin and blank stare when I suggest he give Sam Greenlee some air time for Black History Month. What was that song? “Ain’t no future in frontin”
@Ernie P.
That’s because he didn’t know who you were talking about, and was probably ashamed to say so. I’m like you, ain’t no future in your frontin’…keep it real. If you don’t know, why not educate yourself…Oh yeah, that song was by MC Breed by the way, another artist we lost too soon.
I guess head wraps and locks don’t mean shit if it’s just a tough talking, looking cool posture suitable for MTV airtime.
