I forget some times how cynically optimistic the early 1980’s were. RONALD RAYGUN and his arch-conservative administration waged a war on the poor and disenfranchised. Instead of substantative public policy we we’re given slogans like ‘Just Say No’ and music videos. A longtime reader, Miss APPLE HALSEY, sent me her remarks and this YouTube clip of one of those videos.
“Hey DP, as of late you have been ruminating in your posts about how to turn the tide against the avarice and apathy that has come to define American culture. I believe the answer can be found in the halcyon glow of the Regean era, when everyone acknowledged that the boogey man was a middle-aged white guy wearing a Panama hat inside of your closet with a tray of goodies; when Whitney Houston really did believe that crack was wack and when LaToya Jackson had a singing career.
I’m not sure if it’s the Fame-style dance number at the end or Conan’s cameo as a garbage man, but this video just fills me with hope for a better tomorrow.”

OMG I so feel the total vibe! It’s the culmination of the synergy! This has EVERYthing… to do with uh..uh…Well I know that my local drug distributor used to deliver in a stretch with a tv antenna on the back!
