thanks big homie, this is a sad and disgusting part of american history. to some it seems like a long time ago, the oppressor & the youth. the older i get, the reality is that it’s not that long ago.

    trayvon martin = america’s ugliness
trayvon martin = lynching still exists in america
trayvon martin = black men are still enemy #1

damn billie holiday music is sadly beautiful.

DP, delete this if a double-post (last one didn’t go thru?) but let me recommend

“At The Hands of Persons Unknown: The Lynching of Black America” by (white) (Brooklyn) historian Philip Dray.

An unpleasant subject to the say the least but learning what happened and the stories of those who’ve fought back should strengthen our resolve now.

Rhetorical Q: how many folks in Crown Heights, BK or NYC really know the meaning of Medgar Evers College here?

Man, the look on the ofays faces in most of the shots is like a casual air of business as usual. Like they just nabbed the big game. Fuxxin’ cowards…

Sad part of this is that these are photographs, which means that this was not too long ago. Another sad part is that people could look at these photos and just believe that these are isolated incidents or just part of some KKK bullshit and flex white privilege to remove themselves out of the equation.

My pops would play this song and would creep me the fux out as a kid. Still does. But needs to be heard-just like the young boy screaming for his life before getting merk’d

Even if you just talkin’ to your girl on the phone and eating skittles, shit gon always be real for young black men.

dirtyjerz….well said. its a shame that hate like that existed and still exists.

the Miami Herald has a good overview of the Trayvon Martin case today–

How much was cover up and how much incompetence by the Sanford PD I don’t know but goddamn! I just hope they didn’t fuck things up so much Zimmerman gets off. And, for starters, cops should have been knocking at HIS fucking door for making all these bogus 911 calls month after month after month.

    ***

“I have never seen such an incompetent investigation,” said Walt Zalisko, a former Jersey City police commander who now owns a police management consulting company in Central Florida. “There are so many problems with this case. The problem up here is that officers receive very little training, and there is very little understanding of diversity issues.

“The good ol’ boy network is so prevalent here.”

Zalisko, who has followed the case closely, said he was startled by Zimmerman’s claim that he had left his truck so he could check the name of the street he was on. Making a point that Chief Lee also made, Zalisko said it’s implausible that Zimmerman would not know where he was in a tiny gated community that he patrolled regularly.
