To Kill A Mouse…

I can’t front when I tell you how sad I was that Marvel Entertainment was being acquired by the Disney Corporation. I felt like Marvel had just turned a corner with their motion pictures production company and I was very hopeful that I would see more media that lent itself to the renegade storytelling capacity which their comicbooks had possessed for decades.

The Iron Man movie and the latest Hulk feature film were the proof positive as well as Marvel’s animation department which turned out some great features earlier this year. That Hugh Jagoff Wolverine P.O.S. (piece-o-shit) wasn’t totally Marvel’s fault because their studio didn’t have final say. Actually, Wolverine was the kind of film I could imagine coming from the Disney camp.

The final details for the acquisition stil haven’t been made public but the language that has been bandied about so far is foreboding of what you can think a multinational corporation does when they takeover a property. The deals that Marvel has made with other movie studios can’t be altered. Yet. But don’t think that Disney’s lawyers won’t be hands-on for everything.

You can rest assured that Balactus will never see the light of day again. Disney lawyers are infamously venomous in protecting the iconography they own. They have no reservations about taking candy from babies or slapping women on a Sunday. With almost 4 billion dollars on the line they are going to be extra aggressive in making sure they get their money’s worth.

Maybe I’m just a horrible cynic though? Maybe this was the deal that STAN LEE always wanted in the first place? To have his body cryogenically frozen in the same icebox as racist ass WALT DISNEY. Too bad that JACK KIRBY went to the blue side of the moon several years ago. This pic of STAN LEE makes me think of HUGH HEFNER [ll]. Now I wonder when Disney will purchase Playboy?

When Pixar merge with Disney and made Steve Jobs a media-conglomerate god they decided to keep operations seperate. THANK YOU SMART MEDIA GODS. Pixar’s quality has not suffered while Disney is still trying to figure out how to successfully entertain children like they used to. In the mean time, we will see more of Disney presents . . . some anime product to the American masses that will claim the film was just too complex.

I really doubt Disney will mess with Marvel’s comic book operation because I’m sure they all understand that the last thing kids are doing is reading comic books. Batman video games rule, not to mention unlimited access to porn. Between Marvel and DC they both failed to cater or actively market their product to the female gender, other ethnic groups, and other genres that don’t involve men in tights. Don’t worry, kids discovered anime a long time ago. Tokyo Pop wins.

Honestly, I don’t see how an influx of financial resources can really help Marvel, after all Warner Brothers had DC in their fold for quite a while.

Cynic, yes I am. Anyway, fuhget them . . . I’m bringing back the Fat Albert crew next month.

    Co-sign VEe.

Judging by the Pixar deal, I don’t see Disney doing any damage to Marvel that they haven’t already done one or twice on their own. I highly doubt Stan would’ve signed off if he didn’t think it was wise. Marvel should be like one of his kids; the one that actually does something right & comes over to the house, not just on holidays, & helps everybody out when they can.

As long as I can go to Disneyland & not worry about Punisher ambushing me from that Castle, or worry about them awitching the Matterhorn monster with The Hulk, I’m good.

Disney seems to be a smart enough corporation to know when something doesn’t need fixing because it’s not broken. I see it as a win, because now thats Disney dollars are on the table, Marvel can really push the limits on their brand(s).

Fellas, Disney lost money in 2008 earnings from their 2007 ledgers. Don’t think for one second that they aren’t examining their acquisition to see where they can save money.

I worked indirectly for Capital Cities(ABC-TV) in the late 80’s and 90’s under the old rabbi architect. He got me an ID card so I could go have lunch at the corp HQ cafeteria. It was subsidized by the corp. so you could beast out for a buck. Disney deaded that shit early after their acquisition for people that weren’t getting an employee check from the mouse. Outside contractors were kicked to the curb.

That is my experience, plus the lines at Disneyworld be ricky retardo long.

Never been to Disneyworld, but Disneyland lines are the worst. It really sucks now that they waited until I had a family to make it easier to steal souvenirs.
