NYC Will Be Ecstatic…

ecstatic

Mos Def along with Jay Electronica will be making a stop at NYC’s newest outdoor concert venue – The Beach @ Governor’s Island.

Governor’s Island was a former Coast Guard station as recently as the early 1990’s and is slowly being retrofitted to become a sort of Coney Island type amusement park within New York harbor. I’ve visited the island previously and it is an excellent place to spend an afternoon away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. I imagine that concerts on the island also take on that laid back feel.

Mos Def will be performing songs from his latest album ‘The Ecstatic’ along with some of his other classic joints. Opening for Mos is Jay Electronica. Mighty Healthy spokesmodel 40 Diesel tells me that at this juncture in rap music Jay Electronic >>> Jay-Z. I’m gonna have to put that statement on the line and check out this show. You can follow this link to come up on tickets. The setting is right for some special guests to appear as well.

  1. Co-sign Mr. 40 Diesel, tho’ I’d like to hear A LOT more Jay Electronica and a lot less from or about Shawn “Not The Nets Owner” Carter.

I like the way the cheap fucking whores of the internet (they don’t deserve the ‘s’) are now pretending “BP3” was “pushed up”; as if Sep 8 wasn’t ** always ** the real street date. Oh well, one more fraud among the many.

“Killer Of Sheep” (from where Mos got the cover) trailer >>>>>>

entirety of dogshit “American Gangster” AND “Carlito’s Way” too.

DP, I don’t know much about superhero comic art but you, 40 and CJ might dig the fact that… Neal Adams was born on Governor’s Island?!

    Oh shit!!!

I do stand by that comment and will go a step further and say that Jay Electronica is one of those “Comet MC’s” that comes around once every generation…

Rakim (one revolution), Nas (next trip around), Jay Electronica.

    I will by buying tickets.

I co-sign the Jay Elect statement. The Ecstatic is easily my fav album of the year

Yo…I caught them in New Orleans. Mos rocked, but since N.O. is Jay’s hometown, he BLESSED the spot. It was my homie’s first time hearing Jay spit, and the next day, he downloaded every free mixtape he kind find on these internets. Jay is NIIIIICE, but sadly, he might be a bit too scientific for a lot of these cats down here. They still think Wayne is the end-all-be-all. SMDH.

@Willis – thanks for the cosign. My anticipation for Jay Elec’s project may supercede El Dallas’ Slaughterhouse banner waiving.

“Killer of Sheep” was great. Illmatic piece of black life in LA. It took Netflix 3 months to get it to me. Well worth it.

I just saw them with the addition of Ms Badu in the line up in Hollywood on Saturday! Jay IS good! He kept saying he was nervous but you couldn’t tell. He’s very funny, I think you will like him.

Mos was fantastic!!! I always heard he was wack in concert but it was the best show I’ve seen all year. Our only guest appearance was Shuggie Otis who was brilliant! Mos’ set is extra long too so its worth whatever your ticket price.
