Sadly those two punk pimps aka Reverends aka Ambulance Chasers aka BS Artists Jackson and his pudgy protege Sharpton got way too much attention.
This was a People Event, not a hype man event.
Fuck these two , their mommas and their wack ass crews. And you can quote me on that.

I didn’t buy shit yesterday but that’s because I was broke. Wendy’s doesn’t count right?

Anyway, the coverage was pretty great I think and I like that people talked about how the protests brought back memories of the Civil Rights Era. Good stuff all in all and I even honked for the protesters in my neck of the woods.

  8. ike says:

I for one, am tired, as a Black man, of supporting potential career criminals.

Cause du jours like these leave me exasperated and frustrated. Sure, these kids should have been dealt with a lesser charge, but can we honestly refrain from painting them as victims? Ppl go overboard with this shit, meanwhile the trickle down injustices that add up to wasted lives go unchecked because it aint sexy enough for primetime TV.

  9. Vincent Russo says:

6 black students attack one student, beat him until he’s unconscious, and leave him to die… gee, I wonder why the community is upset and wants these morons to be held responsible for their criminal actions.

Rather than blame the neighborhood… the school system… the police department… the entire world… the parents of Jena 6 should be embarrassed that they’ve raised a group of children that were capable of committing such a heinous crime against another human being.

By supporting these kids & raising money for their defense fund, you’re essentially condoning their violent actions. I’d imagine that if the story were different… 6 white students beating a black student unconscious… you’d be protesting to have those six punished for their crime (which they should be)

It’s also disgusting to see folks like the NAACP, Reverend Al Sharpton & Jesse Jackson using the unfortunate event to steal a few minutes of the media spotlight. One of these days it would be nice to see those folks actually put their money where their mouth is… and help communities preempt violence, rather than show up after the fact to perpetuate additional hatred & violence.

At times it feels like the human race is hurtling down a freeway… no moral road map to guide us, and no one at the wheel.

    Vincent

  10. the_dallas says:

    Vincent,
I appreciate your comment, but you set yourself up by not even recognizing the context that this protest was framed around.

The human race has been on a highway to hell ever since man decided that possessing material items was his goal. This has led to his greed and his bloodlust the world over.

Thanks again or bringing your tiny little soapbox over to this forum, but without any reference to the entire context of this case you are actually part of the problem and not a voice seeking a solution.

    Get your moral weight up.

  11. nation says:

    >> The human race has been on a highway to hell ever since man decided that possessing material items was his goal.

not necessarily… the realization of using pain, which is a personal sentiment/emotion/feeling, against someone else (to get something out of it) is arguably the worst

  13. Vincent Russo says:

    Hi Dallas,

You’re playing a verbal game of three card monty… distraction, deception, misinformation… all for the purpose of moving everyone’s attention away from the point

Rather than deal with the situation for what it is… 6 people nearly beating one person to death… let’s find a million & one reasons to justify their barbaric actions… they’re just children, they weren’t breastfed as babies, their great great great grandfathers were slaves, the government spiked their drinking water with mind control drugs making them prone to random acts of violence.

It doesn’t matter if the Jena 6 were black, brown, white, green or purple… the simple fact remains… they physically assaulted another human being and almost killed him. Socially, morally, legally… it’s wrong.

6 Hispanic guys beat an Asian guy… wrong. 6 White guys beat a Hispanic guy… wrong. 6 Middle Eastern guys beat a Native American Indian guy… wrong. Irregardless of their sex, race or religion, assaulting another human being is wrong.

Most 5 year olds understand the difference between right & wrong, and could tell you that their actions were inappropriate, so why do some adults have a problem understanding a simple concept that most grade schoolers comprehend?

    Later,
    Vincent

  14. enigmatik says:

…if he was almost killed, i’m pretty sure the doctors wouldn’t have released him after only three hours.

their actions are not being condoned and is not the issue that people are rallying behind…the gross disproportion in justice is the rallying point. there were prior incidents of black students being assaulted by white students and the white students were not charged with attempted murder.

forget the hypothetical situations, the fact is that the punishments handed out do not fit the crime. yes, they should be punished for their actions, but 20+ years in prison is ridiculous to say the least.

  15. the_dallas says:

    Vincent,
Who are you? I mean that in the sense of, what the fuck are you talking about? The Jena 6 story on Earth prime (the planet this blog deals with) is the story of six teenagers being charged as adults for attempted murder regarding an assault case, or something that was closer to a minor assault after the victim was given a band-aid.

Maybe you’re from another Earth, in another dimension, where the Jena 6 story is about six adults who were still enrolled in high school beating up another student within an inch of his life. Please comment on the dallas penn dot com blog that exists in that dimension.

As for the story on this planet, you have to be completely disingenuous to think that someone advocates freedom for criminals. Search this site for other references to the Jena case and you will understand that DP Dot Com is for some crazy shit called social equity. It means that society must administer justice equally with no deference to race or class. It’s a heavy concept Vincent and most people that can’t handle the truth don’t believe in social equity.

The biggest thing we oppose here at this site is supremacy. It seeks to make most people too lazy or too dumb to search for real facts or real truths, and instead they happily live their lives and frame their decisions without ever using the proper context. They also use misinformation to obfuscate their P.O.V.’s. Nah’mean Vincent?

Thanks again for stopping by here and making yourself available for the discussion, but please understand the FACTS about this case and not simply the rhetoric established by people who don’t want to examine this story in it’s entirety.

True story is that I have been sitting home all weekend unmotivated to go in on any story because I feel like everyone is already covering everything, but my new DP Dot Commenter Vincent has shown me that people are as ill-informed and lazy to ascertain truth as we ever were. It’s like mankind hasn’t learned a gotdamned thing since the apple was bitten a billion million years ago.

  16. Vincent Russo says:

Dallas you speak about equity, but where’s the equity in 6 people attacking 1 person until they’re unconscious?

Where’s the equity in African Americans having hate crime laws to protect them in a 6-on-1 attack, but a white student doesn’t have the same protection under the law?

Where’s the equity in someone expressing a different opinion, and being ridiculed because their perspective differs from your’s?

You’re right Dallas, how foolish of me to think that 6 people should attack 1 person, and not be held accountable for their actions.

It would be more beneficial to society to teach these students that when you don’t get your way or someone calls you a bad name, it’s perfectly acceptable to round up a few friends and kick the crap out of a random stranger.

More importantly, when it’s time to take responsibility for your actions, a bunch of idiots will play the race card, stamp their feet & pound their chests loud enough until you get off with a slap on the wrist.

I can now rest better at night knowing that folks like yourself are making the world a better place by teaching our youth that they don’t have to be accountable for their actions. Frankly Dallas, if that’s the Earth you hope to create, I’d happily maintain my residence on another planet.

    Vincent

  17. LM says:

    Vincent,

    Points of fact:

    1) hate crime laws apply to “anti-white” too. http://www.fbi.gov/ucr/hc2005/table1.htm

    2) you’ve been called ill-informed and lazy. You haven’t been ridiculed. You’re welcome to return to the planet by improving your education and work ethic on this matter before commenting again.

    3) your sarcasm would be more effective if it actually addressed the issue at hand.

  18. Vincent Russo says:

If you had the capacity to actually formulate your own thoughts LM, I’d take your comments to heart, but you’re simply regurgitating the same PC sound bites that are heard whenever an African American is going to be held responsible for their involvement in a criminal act.

In regards to your other comment, I am aware that there are anti-white hate crime laws. I was simply trying to say that statistics show convictions in white hate crimes are significantly lower than convictions in black hate crimes, so it would appear that some receive disproportionate protection under the law than others.

I’ve obviously taken up too much of your time, and wouldn’t want to delay you from attending a “Free Michael Vick” or “Free OJ” protest.

  19. the_dallas says:

    Vincent,
You are back again without having done any more research on this case than when you first came here. That’s why you’re lazy and ill-informed.

What African American has been protected by a hate crime law? I only know of a student imprisoned for nearly a year for what amounts to be a minor assault. The victim you described was not a stranger to the boys that beat him up either. In a town like Jena where everyone knows each other (literally), the boy that was beaten up was one of the youths that placed hangman’s nooses on a tree on the school’s grounds. To write comments that would suggest that the he was not an active part of this case from the beginning is where you lose all of your credibility.

You really ARE part of the problem. Stop languishing in your ignorance of this case if you honestly want your opinion to be valid. How irresponsible are you being by not becoming familiar with the actual facts that have occurred already? The statements that you make are worse than any Sharpton of Jackson that carpetbags their “Blacks as perpetual victims” politics.

Again, I wish you would take the time to learn the facts about the Jena case before you visit my forum and poison my comments thread with your rhetoric and misassumptions. I won’t allow you to continue your disrespect the readers of this site with your baseless accusations on what the mission of DP Dot Com really is.

In other words Vincent, read a book nigger!

  20. Eloheem * says:

Let Vincent Rock. His ignorance and thought process is common and motivating. He probably Tivo’s Hannity & colmes.

  21. Vincent Russo says:

So if someone feels that 6 morons shouldn’t be allowed to walk free for beating another human being… and if a person thinks differently from you… and expresses views that vary from your own… they’re ignorant? You’re such a tolerant & open minded individual Eloheem, but I believe this is a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

Between the Dallas’ comments about being from another planet… and your comments about Tivo’ing Hannity & Colmes (for the record, I don’t own a TV by choice)… you’re reducing the conversation to the lowest common denominator… name calling, like a a bunch of children… in a feeble attempt to take attention away from the real issue.

Once again… and I really can’t type it any slower for you guys… 6 people attack one person and leave him unconscious… violence bad, being held accountable for your violent/illegal actions good. Understanding that these 6 individuals are responsible of their actions irregardless of their race is good, thinking that the 6 should receive a “Get Out of Jail Free” card because they’re black is bad and so very, very, predictable.

    Vincent

  22. the_dallas says:

    Vincent,
You claimed that the charges of attempted murder were warranted. I would argue that if the six youths wanted to kill this one kid then they very well could have, but they didn’t. They just wanted to beat his ass for him being a coward and placing nooses on a tree as a terrorististic threat to these people’s lives. What should be his punishment? Did he not threaten these people with murder? Should he not also face charges of attempted murder?

You seem kind of silly to continually frame one piece of this incident as if it occurred in a vacuum. It’s even a little annoying that you couch your statements in a supremacist veil as well as if the readers of this site don’t believe in justice. Oh well, what are we gonnha do with you? Nothing I’m sure. Supremacy exists in the first place to allow people like yourself to live your lives with blinders on, while the rest of the world suffers from your inability to be courageous or humane.

Since you believe in making gross exaggerations about several of the readers of this site I will make several about you…

You tacitly endorsed the genocide of the native American population when your grandfather distributed smallpox laden blankets along the Lewis & Clark westward expansion.

You openly endorse racism when your father ordered the police and firefighters to release attack dogs and open firehoses on the peaceful marchers in Selma.

You continue your legacy of supremacy by denying the rights of migrant workers to life and liberty in the country that they work so hard to support even though they are the most abused workforce.

That the Black teenage kids in Jena should receive the same sentencing as their white (mostly adult) counterparts is lost to your mind is little surprise to me. The palms of your hands that indicate your cowardice have already been transformed from pale pink to blood red so long ago.

It’s called ether Vincent, just drink it slow and kill yourself.

  23. Vincent Russo says:

Wow, your finest round of verbal three card monty yet! Nooses, smallpox, attack dogs & ether all in the same post… talk about short attention span theater. It’s called Attention Deficit Disorder Dallas and it is treatable.

In answer to your misplaced comments, my parents immigrated to the United States from Italy, so I’m a first generation Italian-American.

Last I checked my family were fisherman in Sicily while Native American Indians were being infected with smallpox, and they were nowhere near Selma or the U.S. during the peace marches… but if it helps your cookie cutter response to lump my ancestors & their history into a single category with anyone that looks remotely caucasian, then so be it. That’s your narrow view of the world, not mine.

I suppose it’s not your fault, to the untrained eye & ear we (Italians, Irish, French, German, Swedish, Scottish, etc.) all look & sound the same… how very racist & hypocritical of you.

Once again while you’ve attempted to tap dance away from the issue with stories about Lewis & Clark, Native American Indians & attack dogs I’ll once again bring the conversation back to point… you commit an act of violence against someone, you break the law, you take responsibility for your actions and pay the penalty. This means the Jena 6, this means the inbred hillbillies that hung the nooses on the tree, this means your parents who obviously left you alone in a corner to eat paint chips when you were a child.

Since you introduced the topic of history, it might be interesting to wind the clock back a few years prior to slavery in the U.S. and discuss the long history of slavery within African culture… the fact that slavery was practiced by Africans as far back as the prehistoric era, African men routinely kept African women as slaves/concubines, west African states generated great wealth by selling other Africans across the Atlantic… in fact long after the U.S. ended slavery in 1865, African states continued to export slaves across the Atlantic to Brazil until 1888.

What a proud & rich tradition of Africans preying off other Africans for personal profit & gain… ya know, this isn’t much different from what folks like Sharpton & Jesse Jackson are doing today.

    Vincent
