SNEAKER FIENDS UNITE!

bo jackson

Bo Jackson was an athlete so futuristic and ahead of his time that Nike has had to continue to issue retro releases of his talent-inspired training shoes.

The Air Trainer SC had a second generation which had a forefoot lateral strap and was higher than the previous 3/4 cut. I just peeped the retro style slated for Spring 2011 release posted at TheShoeGame.com

sc trainer II

The OG Air Trainer SC II was first released when Nike had a fondness for the infrared colorway. These crosstraining shoes were meant mostly for the fitness clubs and not the football fields.

With all the crazy colorways that college teams are into wearing now I think the OG Trainer SC II infrared is ready for a return.

Biggup to the NFL’s Comback Player of the Year – Micheal Vick.

Now I can go go back to wearing my Nike Vick shoes without worrying about someone from PETA putting chewing gum under my feet.

tomlinson

The NY Jets future Hall Of Famer LaDANIAN TOMLINSON had a playoff game for the ages by scoring two touchdown’s against last year’s Super Bowl runner-up Indianapolis Colts. It would have all gone for naught if the Jets’ placekicker NICK FOLK didn’t seal the victory with a field goal in the final seconds. Let’s see if the Jets can keep this improbable run rolling next week in Foxboro.

Can you believe that the Seattle Seahawks beat the New Orleans Saints? The Saints coach should get fired for that shit. The defensive back that Marshawn ‘Beastmode’ Lynch pwned should definitely be cut by Monday.

Today’s games are the Ravens at Kansas City and Green Bay at Philadelphia. The teams with bird mascots should prevail, but you can never call it on any given Sunday.

The zenith of aspirations inside of the sneaker culture is the Air Jordan brand. Artists and designers are still inspired to create new designs for the brand despite the fact that the player who made these shoes famous has long since retired from p[laying basketball in the shoes.

In the early days of Air Jordan hype it was reported that people would be willing to kill someone to acquire a pair. There should be a salute to the marketers of these shoes that even after a quarter of a century people are still believing the hype.

Shout out to the editor of that nightly news clip. Too bad NYC doesn’t get as buckwild as Humble, Texas. I guess that’s cause most people in NYC stopped believing the hype.

The Air Jordan XIII ‘Playoffs’ will be dropping in a few weeks. I’ll beast for these joints with a Sneaker Fiends Unite video documentary.

The White World of Sports Journalism…

Chocolate Snowflake bought me this book and I will give it to anyone who wants to read it. I called bullshit on this book early. It smacks of the privilege that white folks in America enjoy on the daily even when they don’t acknowledge how the game is tilted in their favor.

It’s within those parameters of unacknowledged privilege that mainstream sports reporting tells the story of athletes in America. Why Brett Favre is heroic even tho’ he paralyzed and later crippled a NFL team and while his disclosures of infidelity and general churlishness don’t mete the call of being out of bounds. Let’s not even speak on Michael Vick, or Michael Irvin, or Mike Tyson.

Peep this article to see how deep it gets…
