Just Blaze NYC Takeover…

Monday, January 9th, 2012

I showed you my Outfit Architecture that was built to hang out with Just Blaze for his sneaker launch/birthday celebration this past weekend in NYC.

I ended up replacing the toggle coat with a zip-up sweater due to the autumnal temperatures still hanging around the northeast.

Before I would join Just Blaze I had to meet up with the Swedes who were still in town shooting some video. We hopped thru Flight Club and then sat down for a sec inside of Cozy Soup & Burger to chat and chop up how I might help them become better at making web videos.

Ha. As if I would know.

Next stop was the Supra store to preview the Just Blaze x Supra ‘Skytop II’ and to have a little piece of cake with the birthday dude.

The cake was reedirk and the shoes weren’t bad either.

Just Blaze is the consummate impresario and he hosted the rest of the evening in the most gracious and professional manner I have ever seen. I couldn’t walk the Swedes into the Supra store to have them enjoy some of the free Smirnoff being liberally poured to partygoers. Just asked me if everything was good and I told him I couldn’t get the Swedish film crew inside. Just immediately went to the doorman and had the Swedes let in. BONG!

After everyone ate cake Just Blaze invited me to join him and his peoples for dinner. No, he really invited me, like, “Dallas, come with us out to dinner. I know YOU hungry.” LOL. He was sho’nuff right.

Dinner was at this official Japanese BBQ joint across from The Cooper Union. Combat Jack did his Von Trapp thing and brought the whole family with him. Just Blaze basically bought dinner (and several rounds of drinks) for 50 people. As the food arrived Just went from table to table asking everyone if they were enjoying themselves.

The next stop was for the after-dinner party at Tammany Hall where Just would be the host while many of NYC’s legendary deejays would spin mini-sets to move the crowd. Stretch Armstrong, Evil Dee, Clark Kent and others had the joint rocking all night. I dipped outside to see if I could bring in Premium Pete who made the drive into the city.

Good thing Just came outside for a minute because I wouldn’t have been able to do anything since the line was down the block. That was essentially how the night went as Just Blaze moved all around the club environs making sure people’s glasses were full and their smiles were wide. And keep in mind this was HIS birthday party.

You can learn a lot about people by how they treat the folks who can’t further their fame and acclaim. Just Blaze treats everyone like a celebrity and treats celebrities like family. Even Internets Celebrities. There’s definitely a reason success in various platforms continues to find his doorstep time after time. I’m just feeling lucky that he showed me how its done.

Reebok Back…

Sunday, January 8th, 2012

The key to Reebok’s resurgence in the sneaker game is gonna be the quality of the materials they use to reintroduce people to their classic styles. Swiss sneaker retailer Titolo got their hands on the classic jogging shoe treated with a sexy oiled suede upper.

This shoe should not be slept on, especially considering how few sneakers are actually made with real leather anymore. Keep your eyes on Reebok so you don’t miss any of these classic retros they are re-releasing.

Outfit Architecture…

Saturday, January 7th, 2012

I’m making a move now to be a part of Justin Blaze’s birthday takeover in NYC. First he’s launching a sneaker collab with Supra, and then later tonite at Tammany Hall mad deejays are gonna do some sets to move the crowd. Because it’s JustBlaze you already know the lifestylers are gonna be out in full force (no Bowlegged Lou).

I’m putting this ‘fit together with some old pieces and a few new I.T.’s I received from the Internets. Shouts to Dirty Jerz, Super Bad MC Solace and Chocolate Snowflake.

The 5 polo players rugby is a classic I.T. for any emotional outfit you are architecting.

Solace pieced me this joint from his archive since it was a XXL. The greatest lifestylers keep doubles and triples of some I.T.’s just for to make deals with.

The adidas Korsika boots are having their tags popped for today’s mission. Thanks Jerz.

Sean Price accused me of wearing ‘Big Daddy’ jeans. That shit was funny as hell, but it hurt my feelings slightly. Even tho’ I buy my Levi’s from Marshall’s I wear official jeans too (mostly). You can’t knock the 501 hustle.

Topping off my ‘fit with a Mets chapeau is a must!

Lastly, I’m rocking the toggled-down duffle coat to keep the cold off my bones. Nothing too crazy tonite but always official lifestyle architecture in real life.

REEBOK BACK…

I’m architecting a mean ‘fit with these Reebok Cliffhanger ZigTechs as the footwear base. I’ll post the pics as soon as I have it completed.

Maffew Ragazino – ‘Blaxploitation’

Wednesday, January 4th, 2012

The opening track from Maffew Ragazino’s critically acclaimed album ‘Rhyme Pays’ gets BluCheez’d and then YouTube’d.

Rap music in 2012 is str8 up blaxploitation where the Blacks are now cartoons and caricatures of themselves. Where blaxploitation films saved Hollywood from financial collapse in the early 1970s the new blaxploitation in rap music is strangling the art of Hip-Hop.

Hopefully Maffew Ragazino can be the shield that Hip-Hop needs to defend itself from the culture vultures and caveman currency savages simply trying to profiteer from the music without supporting the culture or the future. Maffew Ragazino literally needs to become the Ultimate Nick Fury from S.H.I.E.L.D.
