The lineup for the ‘Lo-End Theory just keeps getting better. The addition of Sadat-X brings us that much closer to a Brand Nubian reunion at the event. I’m keeping my fingers crossed…
On Tuesday I caught up with the god at a release party for his latest album ‘Wild Cowboys II’. This is an appropriate name for this disk. There are 16 tracks and each one has a feature. Some have multiple features. Other than the four(4) tracks produced by Will Tell every track boast a different beatmaker. Instead of the album being disjointed Sadat-X anchors the album as the constant throughout.
Sadat uses his veteran status to travel all across the country recruiting rappers and producers. Pete Rock, Rhymefest, Kurupt, Shawn Black, Shabaam Sadeeq, Buckwild, ILL Bill, Minnesota, Vast Aire along with Lord Jamar and Grand Puba just to remind you ain’t a damn thing changed. Sadat-X rocks with each soundscape as if he were trying out for a job interview. He passed the test years ago, but he still rhymes like he has something to prove.
Sadat-X and Rhymefest trade hilarious verses on this track…
‘Roll That’
I fux with this joint featuring Shawn Black…
‘We Kewl’
Awww shit. Brand Nubian is in the building. Is that Game on the hook?
‘Long Years’
Old man rap is still valuable in Hip-Hop because with these veterans comes the perspective of living life in the industry for ten, even fifteen years. Those experiences need to find the ears of today’s listeners. Sadat-X represents boundless, borderless Hip-Hop. No city, no region, no country. From the Bronx to the universe. With two L’s up.
