It went down so crazy in Prospect Park on Saturday nite. Ghostface Killah was the headliner for the Lyricist Lounge 20th Anniversary show. Combat Jack came thru as well as Meyhem Lauren and the entire Lo-Life crew.
DallasPenn.com stays in these streets for your entertainment. You are welcome.
This week’s special guest on the Combat Jack Show was stand up comedian and radio personality Artie Lange (formerly of the Howard Stern Show). Artie discussed some of the high points and low moments in his career from his stints on MadTV and Howard Stern’s spaceship.
Artie even spit a verse from Biggie’s notoirous catalog.
The Miami Heat’s NBA Finals victory now cements LeBron James into the league’s franchise seat which was forcibly vacated by Kobe Bryant. I’m not mad at how LeBron achieved this title because even tho’ he didn’t display the killer DNA myself and so many other fans wanted to see from him Lebron showed a true grit and an ability to be an all-around basketball player.
The triple-double James recorded in the deciding game is an underrated feat. It describes the sacrifice to grab rebounds and the unselfish nature which is needed to help other players get baskets. For crissakes, Mike Miller, who is one quarter of the role player he once was looked like Bill Lainbeer, hitting threes and taking charges. That was LeBron James motivation which enabled Miller to be great.
LeBron will still be someone who I think cries to the refs too often but so did Jordan and Kobe in their own respective ways. At least now LeBron James has a ring so those tears will be champion tears instead of alligator tears.
When Action Bronson announced he’d be on the bill for the City Parks (SummerStage) show at Red Hook Park I knew he was gonna bring out Meyhem Lauren for at least a track.
I’m looking at the pictures of these dudes with the NYC sky turning to dusklight and I feel a sense of satisfaction from their accomplishments. Its a funny thing to actually know these cats and to break bread with them and to talk the artistry and lifestyle of a rap singer.
These dudes were all real before I even met them. Their trajectory is still pointed upwards and onwards. They gonna have to do a track now called ‘Excelsior’. Pardon me internets, I’m just in a New York state of mind.
I went to the Akoo Clothing showroom just to meet this cat Ca$h Out because I fux with his single ‘Cashin Out’ so hard [ll]. I wanted to see about getting Ca$h Out on the Combat Jack Show because his song is so hot. He was cool and all, but I was really intrigued by his mom manager.
She had blue hair and that means she would make a great guest on the program.
The event I had gone to was to introduce the new Epic Records roster of rap stars. Ca$h Out, Uncle Murda, Fresco Kayne and King Louie from Chicago.
The super bonus was meeting Andrew Barber for the first time. Andrew runs Fake Shore Drive and he’s been an interconnected network for a long time.
